my daughter never liked oatmeal. but she has eaten (literally) every other thing we've ever offered her, even things she's pulled a face at (raspberries!). I just gave up on it. I never loved oatmeal either, so I can't blame her.

If he's not into it, I'd take a break. I'd also probably start up with something different and yummier, like a fruit puree :)

I would try something else. Maybe sweet potato purée? Seems like most babies love that, I know mines does!

@zippylef: I'm just using formula, but I'll try fruit.

@hilsy85: I think we might need a break. :/

@mamabehr: I don't think we're going too slow. He just doesn't seem to care for it. Whether it's the food or the actual eating, who knows.

I remember DS getting really irritated when we didn't go fast enough.. Could this be why?

I agree with mixing with a fruit, but also, it's ok to stop for a few days and then try again. It's totally normal for babies to not be into solids right away. Take a break and try again later. And don't stress!

What are you mixing it with? I'd try doing it with a fruit puree. Thats the only way C would eat it. She liked it with fruit puree, a tiny bit of milk and some cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.

I tried giving lo oatmeal cereal. He already gets it in his bottle for reflux, so I tried feeding it to him with a spoon first instead of in the bottle. His very first time he was fine, ate it all, no tears. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times he has had complete meltdowns after two bites. The first three attempts were in the evenings, so I tried this morning to see if he was too tired at night.

Also, he's getting his first two teeth right now.

What are your opinions on what's going on? I don't know if it's his teeth, if he hates oatmeal, or if he just isn't ready.
