I never bothered, I just cooked the rice until it was super soft, but I only gave it to him around 8 months.

@Mrsbells: yep! I used to add veggies and chicken too and got it really smooth. Brown rice wasn't as smooth as white though!

@Mrsbells: LOL. That's what happens when you're typing and trying to keep the baby away from the keyboard.

Although I do really like soaking my water before I consume it ;)

Thanks everyone I guess it can go both ways.

@MungBean: Lol I think you meant to say you soak the rice in water, rather than the water in the rice. Lol that was a funny typo

@chopsuey119: Do you get it quite smooth if you blend after boiling?

I soak my rice in a water, then blend it in my food processor (with the water), cook it, and then blend it one more time. I haven't had any problems yet.

I used my magic bullet to blend the rice first. Didn't harm it at all.

All the guidelines I see mention that if you decide to feed rice or brown rice to your baby you have to grind it into a flour first and then cook it. Has anyone done the opposite and cooked the rice first and then blended it? Is there any reason why it must be ground into flour first? I dont have a mill and I worry that griding rice in the blender will mess it up.
I do know that some people skip cereals because they dont have much nutritional value but I would still like to introduce it eventually even though it wont be her first food
