@hilary: thanks! 2 hours seems like a good time frame. Maybe 4 hours of warmed up milk in my bag is kinda gross. Haha!

I bring a warmed up bottle to church but know that I am using it in the next 2 hours. For longer periods I will bring the cold bottle and let it come to room temp over time and if still cool when time to feed then warm it up with hot water.

thanks ladies!! sounds like most of you prefer to keep it cold and warm up right before feeding which makes sense. but is it bad to warm it up before i leave the house and just keep it in my diaper bag if i know for sure i will use it within four hours? or is it gross to have warm milk in your bag for so long?

the party is actually at gymboree. i have never been to a gymboree before but thought it might be a good idea to have a bottle with me so i dont have to nurse privately. i can just socialize and feed baby at the same time! but more importantly, i wanted to know what to do for future outings as well!

You can also keep it in a tiny cooler...Similac makes ones that are really small (like enough for 1 or 2 bottles) that use ice packs to keep the milk cool. Then, like Bee said, you can either take a thermos of warm water or just run to a Starbucks and ask for a cup of hot water to warm it. Kind of a PITA, but that's what we do!

you have a couple options. pump fresh milk just before you leave and take it with you. no need to refrigerate. what i always did when i took pumped milk out, i took a thermos of hot water and warmed it up. but since you're going to a party, you can just warm it up there with hot water if you're bringing refrigerated milk.

Back when she was nursing, i would bring a bottle once in a while. The host was usually fine with me putting the bottle in the fridge. If it's a party where there's no fridge, could you take it with an ice pack so it stays cooler longer?

Yes this is what I did. If you are comfortable asking, and don't have a long travel time, you could put it in the fridge when you get there.

I'm EBF and usually when I take LO out I'll just nurse her. This weekend I'm attending a party and will probably be easier if I feed her a bottle instead. Do you just take refrigerated breastmilk and warm it up before you toss it in your bag? Is it only good for four hours then? I feel like I should know this but I don't!
