We transitioned to whole milk before bottle weaning, 25% milk for a week, 50% the next and so on for all bottles. At 11 months he was getting:
6am bottle then back to sleep until 8:30 ( this one was painful to give up, now he gets up between 6:30-7:30)
before both naps (11ish and 4ish)
bedtime

LO is 13 months now and bottle weaned. He gets milk when he first wakes up in a straw cup, then offered with meals and snacks. He has a straw cup with water wth him all throughout the day.

When we transitioned to whole milk, we just offered it in a sippy cup with meals, and fortunately, he took to it right away and never missed his bottles (fyi - he's been drinking from a sippy cup since ~ 9 months old, but water only).

LO gets 3 meals/day, along with 2 snacks. Milk is offered at meals, and occasionally randomly throughout the day, if he has a low milk intake day. He gets between 12-16 oz/day.

@twoofeverything: Are they down to 1 nap? Also this is a silly question, but how do you know they are still hungry? They just keep accepting food?

@twoofeverything: Hi!! I know. We still need to get together. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do yet. I just started thinking about this. It just seems so complicated :). Thanks for sharing your experience!

PS...here's our current schedule:

6am - Awake, 8oz. bottle of whole milk
7am - Breakfast (they eat a ton now)
8:45am - Morning Snack (nearly as big as breakfast...they still seem so hungry!)
11:15am - Lunch
1pm - Afternoon Snack (something easy, like a pouch and puffs or cheese and crackers)
2pm - 8 oz. bottle of whole milk
4:45pm - Dinner
6:45pm - Bedtime bottle

...and then I get to make dinner for us! I am so sick of food at the end of the day!

Hi there!

We still need to get together somehow! How are you doing?

Anyway, our LO's turned 1 on 11/30 and at that point we were on four feedings of 6-8oz of formula.

We started doing 25% whole milk for each of their bottles (except bedtime). Over the course of a week or so, we went to 50/50, and then exclusively whole milk for their first three feedings (keeping formula at night.)

Last week (about 2 weeks into the transition), I made the leap and cut out one of their midday bottle feedings, replacing it with two midday snacks. WAY BIGGER HASSLE to do the snacks, but they're doing fine! So now we're at 3 8-oz bottles each day...the first two are whole milk, but I'm only at about 20% whole milk for the evening/nighttime bottle. I'm scared to reduce the formula for that one because I. LOVE. STTN.

My next goal is to get rid of the morning bottle...it just doesn't fill them up enough anymore, and they are ready for breakfast 30 minutes later. So I think I can get rid of it and just give milk in the sippy cups, (I've just been doing water until now because it still feels like they don't drink a lot from their sippy cups during the day).

After that, I'll probably drop the midday bottle, which I currently give them before their 2nd nap to help them stay full while they sleep.

Last goal is to drop the nighttime bottle...I'm thinking I'll start giving it to them earlier and earlier (maybe even with their dinner?). I'd KILL to get rid of bottles within the next two months.

What are your plans? And how are you doing?!?!

My twins are 11 months old and are formula fed with the following schedule:

8oz bottle when they wake up
8oz bottle after morning nap
8oz bottle after afternoon nap
8oz bottle before bed

When you transitioned your FF LO to whole milk, did you keep the same schedule but reduced quantities? Did you just offer with meals? Also did you transition from bottles to sippy cups right away for milk?
