@Mrs.B: Also, if you begin dilating/effacing on your own, that's a good sign that an induction will be easy/successful for you. With my second, I was dilated 3+ cms at 37 weeks. When I talked with my doctor, he said we wouldn't even have to start with induction medications; because I was already so far along, he thought we could just break my water and that would trigger labor for me. So you might be able to start with gentler or non-medication induction methods, if you're a good candidate, and that helps increase your odds, too.

@Honeybee: Going past 40 weeks would be torture! Thankfully my Doc has briefly spoke about scheduling an induction if I don't go by 39 weeks but I've always brushed it off because I was SO against it. HA now I'm changing my tune. I am super worried about C Section but I did some research and I'm less likely to have one if I 1. have had a succesful induction in the past (check) and 2. If I have given birth vaginally in the past (check) so I'm not super concerned about ending in a C Section anymore.

@Mrs.B: Seriously, even if you end up not needing it, just having a "for sure" end date may help you feel better. It definitely did for me. There were days I was counting the minutes until pregnancy would be over with DS, so imagining going 2 weeks late seemed impossible to me at that point.

@Honeybee: This time around is way harder then with DS. It's so much more exhausting being pregnant with a VERY active 4 year old running around. I listed the pros and cons of induction today and I really think I'm going to go ahead and schedule one for sometime after 39 weeks (I hit 39 weeks on a Sunday and the following Monday is a holiday). I hit 39 weeks Oct 7 and I'm thinking Oct 10th would be a good induction date.

Yes! I hit this wall with both of my pregnancies and it was SO hard, especially the second time around because I was so much bigger and more uncomfortable with my second.

A friend of ours always says that babies don't come until the mom gets so frustrated, the baby decides it would be better to be on the outside than stay inside any longer. :) Consider "hitting your wall" to be the first step toward labor. It's the very first sign that the end is near, and you'll be done with it soon. Hugs, it'll be over very soon, I promise.

I know you've discussed a possible induction with your doctor, and truthfully, that was my saving grace. My doctor offerred to induce me at 39 weeks, 3 days if I hadn't gone into labor before then, and that date was my constant thought. I kept thinking, "If I can just make it until then, it will definitely be over." I had a countdown going and everything! In the end, I went into labor at exactly 39 weeks, so I didn't get induced, but just having the offer was a big comfort to me.

Mrs B - I'm sorry you're feeling this way! unfortunately, I can relate and I'm only 34 weeks :( I'm actually just currently in the middle of a rough patch - I think he's going through a growth spurt or something because all of a sudden everything is uncomfortable, sitting, walking, sleeping, etc.... I had a mini cry fest this morning on the train, made me feel a little better.

I feel like this now and I also had an emotional breakdown last night haha. I’m 35 weeks and ready for him to be here! My hips hurt, my stomach hurts, my pelvis hurts. I don’t sleep much. I love his little kicks and hiccups but I’m ready to enjoy them out HERE!

I made DH stay home from work once I hit 40 weeks. 2 of my friends had their babies 2 weeks early (one on my due date!) I cried everyday. Literally. A couple of times a day. I wanted a natural birth but I even thought about inducing because I had no Braxton hicks. No effacement or dilation even at 41 week appt. I truly believes she was never going to Come out. I thought she didn't want to meet me! but alas, DD came 11 days late and is perfect. The emotion of her birth was so intense after waiting so long. Hang in there :)

I probably felt this way from about 32 weeks or so? It just became so uncomfortable carrying all that extra weight. At that point, I felt like I would never again feel "normal". But if it's any consolation, at 4 months postpartum I cannot remember what it felt like to be pregnant. Like, I can't wrap my mind around the concept of LO being inside of me. I also feel like the birth happened to someone else b/c I am just so weirdly disconnected from it all at this point! Some people might think that's bad, but I'm okay with it. I'm another one who just did not love being pregnant.

Um.... I'm 29 weeks and I already feel like this. Obviously I want that little buddy to cook until he or she is done... but I am just NOT one of those women who enjoys pregnancy.

This feeling hit me Monday (36w2d) I'm trying to not think about it. I keep saying, Yes I'll be considered full term on Saturday I need to remember that babies who are in the womb longer sleep better, are happier, and breastfeed better (according to my OB) so I have to think what is best for her. This helps calm me down, if I've done it for 9 months I can do it another couple weeks!

I hope you start to feeling better, you need that baby to cook the next month! take some time out for you, I got a pedicure yesterday and it was incredible how that little thing relaxed my tension by 10x!

HECK YA I FELT LIKE THAT!!! I think I had at least two of those break downs with my DD. She ended up being a week late (I'm sorry, I'm sure that doesn't make you feel any better). But, just think that you can't go two weeks past your due date, so there is an ultimate end date. Hopefully it happens sooner, but if it doesn't you won't go more than two weeks :)

Aww I'm so sorry, and I think everyone gets to this point. Its good to remember that a baby is still really developing until at least 39 weeks and dates aren't always accurate. Keep thinking about how safe and secure you are keeping that little baby!

Awww sorry to hear you feel this way. How far along are you?
I started to get impatient from 37 weeks on ward, but it got really bad from week 39. I kept thinking every twinge was labor and then once I went past my due date I couldnt think about anything else but getting the baby out.

Last night I had a complete breakdown. I've been doing so well with my pregnancy and being patient this go round but all that came to an end last night. I cried and when I say I cried I CRIED because I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever and our LO is NEVER going to come out. I envy those lucky woman who go into labor 2-3 weeks early and long for there luck! I do not cry very often and DH has seen tears twice in our entire relationship. He didn't know how to handle my emotional break down. Today I'm feeling much better but with my crazy insomnia and increasingly uncomfortableness I'm SO ready to be done and just wish that maybe I can catch a break and go into labor a few weeks early. Did you ever feel like this? When did you reach the point of not wanting to be pregnant anymore?
