My little guy went through a period where he practically had a permanent knot/bruise in the center of the head. But if I catch him, 4 out of 5 times he falls - he is still going to have bruises since he falls constantly :)

Clarifying my comment above: It doesn't sound like you are letting him get into bad situations (not commenting on whether or not you let him fall :) )

@Foodnerd81: in a odd way it does. Haha. I knew these things would happen just finally getting to the point where it is.

@Mrs. Lion: I definitely thought about that today

DS is only barely 2 but he's already had more bleeding episodes than I can keep track of! The good news is it has generally made him more self-conscious and aware but he still climbs things anyway. Running and tripping has also caused a lot of bleeding in our house!

It happens. I've taken my daughter to the ER twice for it, both when she was 1.

As long as you aren't allowing him to get into situations where he could cause serious harm to himself, then I think you are doing the right thing to let him fall sometimes! (And it doesn't sound like you are doing that at all!)

I consider bumps and bruises part of the learning for little kids :)

My son is the same way. I feel awful but his head always has at least 1 big lump on it  He had one particularly bad fall from my daughter's learning tower on to our tile kitchen floor. We do all we can but things happen!

@Eko: if it makes you feel better I had an early walker and climber and he hit his head so often on our hardwood floors that I banged my own head on the floor just to see how much it hurt. It was fine and he is a perfectly normal 3 year old now ;)

That's just going to happen, there's nothing you can do beyond what you are doing! I know my LO's worst falls and bumps have been while she is doing nothing out of the ordinary, not the risky things I think are dangerous.

Also my husband once lifted her up high and the ceiling fan hit her in the head three times before he could react and pull her back. Does that make you feel any better?

No advice, just sympathy. LO desperately wants to move and shake and today has been too busy/distracted to nap or nurse well, so I'm currently letting her cry a bit in her crib. I'm feeling terrible, but I don't know what else to do!

So I feel like LO keeps falling down a little too much. He is a huge climber and is trying to walk so even though I'm right there he falls over and will bump his head. Plus, he hasnt been feeling well and I think his balance is off. He took a big fall today and I feel terrible. He is just all over the place and even if I'm right there he manages to get just out of reach. Yelp.
