@Goldengirl: Ha, I had a low-lying placenta with my first (they had to watch it from 20 to 24 weeks, but it resolved itself) and I felt movement every day from 18 weeks on. And, not sure if it's related at all, but to your point: my girl never--and I do mean never--slows down, even now at 18 months. :)

I just saw my stomach move when he kicked, like a little alien is in there... so crazy! My doctor said this is pretty early to be feeling so much... hope that doesn't mean he's going to be crazy hyper when he gets here :)

@Goldengirl: I didn't really start gaming until close to 30 weeks. I lost a couple pounds in the first trimester, mainly because nothing sounded good to eat. I think I had maybe gained 5 lbs at 25 weeks. I'm small to begin with--only 5'2, and usually 115 lbs. every bit of fat I had went to baby. My arms and legs were super skinny. Even my fingers were skinny.

By the end of my pregnancy, I'd gained 30+ pounds. Baby weighed 7 lb 15 oz, so no weight issues for her either.

@Goldengirl: I'm not pregnant, but have had trouble gaining weight in general. Can you try smoothies made with whole milk yogurt, a few T of coconut oil, fruit, nuts/seeds, etc? I also made it a point to track what I ate, so I could see oh I need to eat a bigger breakfast/more snacks, etc. Whole wheat toast with lots of natural peanut butter or almond butter is a great snack before bed.

That's what it felt like for me. I felt it at 17 wks with my son, and 14 weeks with my daughter. DH felt them both kick on the outside at 18 wks or so.

That's exactly what it felt like for me, but it took until around 21w! I haven't felt the flutter that people describe, more just the bubbly feeling and now at almost 25w it is stronger and much more frequent!

@Goldengirl: I definitely didn't feel like butterflies with my first - was more like waves! Definitely sounds like baby movements to me :-)

With this one (I'm also 18.5 weeks) I went from feeling almost nothing to very definite kicks in the past week!

@LindsayLou: Also, curious - when did you start gaining weight? I can't believe I still haven't gained any and it keeps worrying me since you're "supposed" to gain a pound a week or something like that. In fact I'm still a bit less than my normal! Doesn't help that I've been sick this week and have no appetite...

Thanks everyone! I think I was in denial because it feels nothing like "wings flapping" or "fingers poking" which I kept reading about. And also from reading that you can't feel it from the outside until later... but seems like that's what's happening!

Not crazy! I felt the first movement, kind of a nudge or shift, super early at 14 weeks. By 16 weeks I was sure that what I was feeling was baby. I felt it from the outside for the first time at 18 weeks. I'm thin as well, didn't gain until later, and I do think those factors contributed to feeling her move early.

How exciting! I also felt movement early and would describe it as gas bubbles popping rather than butterflies.

DH was first able to detect from the outside at 18 weeks also!

I'm 18.5 weeks and the past few days I've suddenly felt a lot of action going on in my lower tummy area. It doesn't really feel like I've seen people describe, no butterflies or tickling. More like big bubbled and waves.. at first thought maybe gas and now can clearly recognize it as something different and it's happening pretty frequently. The crazy thing is when it happens, I can usually feel it with my hand on the outside... my husband felt it too last night. Was anyone else able to feel from the outside this early or am I crazy? I was so frustrated I hadn't felt anything and now it's like zero to 100 all of a sudden! I'm also very thin (too thin but having trouble gaining weight still, ugh).. so wonder of that contributes to what I can feel?
