Oh you poor thing - talk about adding stress to what's supposed to be fun! I'd get done the have-to-dos (groceries and beds) and would cut yourself some slack on the rest of it. They've had little ones before and should understand. I'd pick up some flowers or a treat while grocery shopping as a little thank you gift and would hope that would cover a few housekeeping sins. I hope you have fun on your night off!

@Mrs. Sketchbook: Aww don't be so hard on yourself thinking that you have to do ALL these things before they come! You should keep your plans, and take a deep breath and know that these are your parents and they will understand and you don't need to impress them! Even if they sneer at the condition of your house, so what! I would just pick like the top 3 things you need to do, and let the rest of them go and ENJOY!

My in laws are watching LO while we go away for the night. Even though they only live just down the road they want to stay here. I put off cleaning earlier this week because I work from home and need the naps for work purpose plus frankly there's no point, he will destroy the house and then I'd have to do it all over again. So I'm here today and I'm just overwhelmed. Things I wouldn't have had to do if they would be willing to have him at their house I have to do like buy groceries for everyone and of course clean and do the beds etc., plus make sure everything is labeled and clear/available to them. Plus deep cleaning that I don't ever do for guests like clean the refrigerator out because they are going to be preparing food. Then packing us up to go. This would have been so much easier if they would have just let us drop him off. I don't know why this is overhauling me so much but at this point I wish we weren't even going, this is just too stressful for one night away.
