I go home if all I can think about is feeling sick, in that case I'm not getting any work done so I usually leave. however, I don't have to use PTO when sick, so I don't lose anything.

@evansjamie: Ugh, I hope I'm not getting the flu either! I just spent a good portion of yesterday with a girl who's husband was JUST in the hospital due to the flu, so I'm nervous!!!

I have the option of WFH, so if I'm not feeling 100% I usually just work from home and take it easy. Elsewise, if I'd already made it to the office, I usually just suck it up and stay for the day.

I would only go home sick if I was completely unproductive. The last time I went home sick I had flu-ish symptoms...so fever, major chills, nausea... I was sitting in a corner with my winter coat on shivering like a crazy woman!

Unless I was very very sick I would probably stay. I only work part time so I get very little time off and want to save it for when our nanny can't be there.

So, a general sense of unwellness was my first clue that I was pregnant. But a I generally have a day like that when I'm coming down with something like a stomach virus or the flu. So I really have no answers, other than maybe tough it out until lunch and reevaluate then. Also, I hope you aren't getting the flu, because it is TERRIBLE.

@mrbee: Hmm... if this was a cold, I'd know I was contagious, but I don't know what this is... though I feel like it's getting worse. Although that could also just be me imagining things, haha.

@locavore_mama: @Smurfette: Yeah, I hear that! All my sick time was used up, so I'll be using vacation if I go home. And I'm always the one that has to stay home with Xander when he's sick (or has an appointment).

@Mae: @Revel: Hmm... I have one task I really should get done today, but otherwise, it's a fairly light day. Maybe I'll get that one task done and then see how I'm feeling!

If I think I have something contagious, then I will go home. Otherwise I will usually just work, unless there isn't much to do in which case there's no point in me staying there.

@Adira: Well if it is the end of the year and I am going to lose my sick time, I would go home. Now that maternity leave took all my vacation and sick time, and I have to miss work when R is sick, I tough it out.
Hope you feel better. I woke up all congested and a sore throat. Blah.

I usually tough it out, but it also depends on what else is going on at work that day. If it's a light day and I just don't feel well, I might stay home occasionally. I hope you feel better!

Depends how much important stuff I have to get done, how many days off I have, etc. If I have something important to do or I'm really trying to save days I'll tough it out unless physically unable. But if I'm not missing anything important and can afford the day, I prefer to not work if I am coming down with something. Especially this close to the holidays. I feel like sometimes if you can sleep it off early it will pass faster than if you push yourself and just make yourself sicker.

With LO being in daycare I like to save as much PTO for when she gets sick and I have to stay home with her or for visiting family etc. So I would suck it up unless I was physically unable to work.

So I woke up this morning feeling a little lightheaded, but thought maybe I was just dehydrated and guzzled a ton of water. I got ready and I'm now at work, but I'm feel nauseous and can't even eat my breakfast or drink my coffee...

Other than feeling nauseous and an overall feeling of "unwellness", I'm technically feeling fine. No headache, no sniffles, etc. I kind of want to go home just to rest, but maybe I'm just being a baby?

How sick do you need to be before you decide to go home?
