I've kinda been in the same situation before. I don't feel like we missed out.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "perfect" provider. Just like parenting, there are always improvements and environments that fit better than others at various times (continuous cycles of change for kids). If you are really over the nanny, go for option 2.

I'm so sorry. We are going through a really hard time finding a daycare as well. Same issues as you.

Sending lots and lots of positive thoughts your way!

@math.nerd:  Is it a definite no or a maybe no?

I would call again in a few days and see if the other mom made a decision.

When I found our DCP I was overjoyed only to find out there was only 1 spot and a current child's new sister would be getting it - I called again a week later and she said "Oh I was just about to call you , the other mom decided to be a SAHM so we have a spot for you!"

I know I lucked out big time and maybe you will too!

Ugh. Just needing to vent this one out.

I have spent so much time researching day cares for my one year old as we are ready to say goodbye to his flaky nanny and get him interacting with some more kids. We finally - FINALLY found the best spot for him. And the owner really made me feel like she was excited to have him.

This morning, after another flaky move by our nanny, I called the day care ready to set up my little one's first day. Only to be told that his spot is no longer available as one of her current mother's may need the spot for her younger child. This must have come up over the weekend, because as of last week the owner was actively lobbying for us to join her.

I am so disappointed and frustrated. It took a lot of effort to find this place and also to come around emotionally to feeling excited about sending my son there. Now I feel defeated! We have to either stay with the flaky nanny or choose a day care that I know is not quite the right fit.

I know that this is not the end of the world, but I just needed to get it off of my chest. Thanks for listening!
