@Mrs. Jacks: Very serious. No good programs for 2 year olds that I can do (Fridays or Sundays). The closest one to me scares me and they do skill checkoff lists even for the preschool program which is a no no. So we don't go there ever. The next closest (1 1/2 hours away) has an infant class only on Thursdays at 11:15 am. Middle of the day and nap time. We did a program 2 hours in the other direction and it was absolutely horrible doing the warmup for 30 of the 40 minute class. No songs or games and only one gymnastics skill each week. So I said no to that one. The big name in SoCal for recreational gymnastics is all open play for the that age group and he needs something more structured. Also the coaches didn't even tell me what was going on or talk to me. So we left that one. I drove down 3 hours to another gym and they convinced me to try the 18m - 3 year old class instead of the 2 - 3 year old class and that class was obviously too young for him. And between when I talked to them originally about the 2-3 year old class and the time we came in (even though they said we could do the older class if the younger didn't work out), they filled the class. So I wasn't interested. That day I found the soccer program 2 hours away and he is having fun with it.

Hopefully after he starts montessori in the fall he will be prepared to do class without me and can do the 3 year old dance and gymnastics classes and I will start the search again.

@brownie: Are you serious? No good program? I did mine in Southern California when I was little (OC to be specific), but I totally get the work restrictions. We can't start our 3 year old in dance until the fall because all of the younger classes require mom or dad to be there (which I can't during weekdays, obviously!)

@artbee: The doctor said to wait and see. But now I see that it is more structural than I told her about.

@Mrs. Jacks: I cannot find a gymnastics program in all of Southern California that I like enough to take my 2 year old to. I want him in a structured class that actually teaches and I can't find one. AND it needs to be when I am not working. So he just started soccer and in the fall we will try again.

I had this as a child and grew out of it without problems. I think dance and gymnastics helped.

Have you talked to a doctor about it? Maybe you can get some sort of orthodics to help?

My sister was pidgeon toed and had two wear casts on each leg when she was a baby. My brother was too but not as bad..... so he's still like that. It's not very noticeable though for him.

So, my son is most definitely pidgeon toed. And the more I look at him, it is coming from his hips and he has the classic bow legged look of Femeral Anteversion. In theory he should grow out of it.

I of course worry because he is such an active kid and runs and jumps and plays so much I don't want him to be at disadvantage because of bones. Any ideas of things to do to encourage him to work his muscle in a turned out way? Or anything else?
