@looch: Yeah it was just weird to me that all day yesterday he had no fever, then middle of the night he got another one. And the extreme of last night with his clingyness and fussyness. It was just weird.

@brownie: I know, right? Fevers are the worst in terms of diagnosis. My sin follows the cold/congestion/fever pattern for ear infections, the first time it happened I had been giving him Advil for 4 days, so now at the first sign, we are at the doctors office.

Hope you both get relief!

@looch: @Dandelion: he hasn't complained since this morning and his temp hasn't gone back up since Advil. So first thing tomorrow we will try to get into the pediatrician. I swear everytime we think it could be an ear infection it isn't. Which sucks because they are "easy" to treat.

My first thought was also an ear infection.

@brownie: I would go to ER then. He won't be able to sleep with an ear infection. They can get him pain relief ear drops that will work right away and help him feel better.

Definitely sounds like an ear infection. My daughter got 3 ear infections in 5 months, and we noticed a pattern. We knew an ear infection was coming when she would get sick/congested, and then 1-2 days later she would get a fever. We always took her to her pediatrician or ER because her fever and ear ache wouldn't go away until we gave her a fever reducer medicine followed by antibiotics

@Mrs.Panda: There isn't an urgent care open in my town on a holiday. It is the ER or wait until tomorrow morning.

@Dandelion: This.

I would go to urgent care rather than the ER. Sounds like an ear infection :(

Sounds like an ear infection. If you have an urgent care nearby, I'd take him. Ear infections really hurt.

So LO was sick this weekend. He's had a cough for weeks but got a fever on Sunday. He acted normally for the most part. Yesterday he was fever free all day. About 2 pm he started saying his ear hurt. It was strange because he kept saying it. Last night he was unusually cranky and he just tossed and turned all night. He also cried anytime I left his side.

Well this morning he is running a fever again. Obviously the pediatrician isn't open today. Is this something to worry about? Should we go to the ER or can we wait until tomorrow.

NOTE: he has never had an ear infection before.
