Update....

I had my ultrasound today and there were no fibroids. Which is frustrating since that would have been a definitive answer. He did find a blood clot in my right ovary (likely due to ovulation last week) and a small amount of calcification in my lining, which could be an indication of an infection. So he is going to send my doctor a message to see what swabs and blood work she did to see if anything could be ruled out. But an infection would make sense to me since my menstrual blood has been so pungent the past few cycles.

This is so frustrating!!!! Thanks for the support ladies.

@muffinsmuffins: My goodness you poor thing!!! I agree! I refuse to put extra hormones in my body if its unnecessary.

@wrkbrk: I'm glad to hear the procedure was easy! I'm hoping that's what it is! I have read that most women who have them have no symptoms and never even know they are there until they are TTC.

@Mrs. Pajamas: Not TTC and probably never will be again (one and done) but the symptoms are annoying enough to want to get it out if that's in fact what it is! I will update once I know more.

Thanks for sharing everyone!!

@Portboston: When I was going through IVF several years ago my RE noticed a pretty large one (golf ball sized I think?) but it was not close enough to affect pregnancy or anything so they just kept ignoring it. I have 2 healthy DDs now thanks to IVF so if you're worried about TTC I think the location is important, not the size. But now that I read your post it's reminding me to ask about it again and get an ultrasound next time I have an annual check up. I've had pre-period spotting since AF arrived about a year or so after DD2 was born. Nothing else bothersome, but it annoys me since I've never had that before. Keep us posted!

@Portboston: I did have one. I didn’t have the symptoms your describe but my doctor saw it in an initial ultrasound before my IUI 5 years ago. It was a very easy procedure to have it removed. No cut. Just a laser. Good luck!!

I was diagnosed with a sizeable fibroid last year from an ultrasound. I haven’t had it removed and that wasn’t discussed as an option. I have a history of all kinds of junk in there and haven’t really found a great solution...ovarian cysts and a diagnosis of PCOS in my 20’s that was managed by BCP for years, the fibroid when I started spotting a lot like you said and having a lot of pain before my period which lead to an IUD to try...now they think I might have endo too? I’m awaiting a follow up after another recent US as the IUD isn’t helping now (it initially was a miracle for me)

In Canada, women’s health is done by your GP so I had to push to see an OBGyn and waited like 9 months for the appointment. She’s great but it’s slow and annoying. I don’t really have any advice but if removing it is an option that’s easy, I would do it rather than mess around with meds and hormones.

I pulled up some old threads but the most recent was 5 years ago so I thought Id start a new one!

Went to the doctor this morning for excessive spotting pre period as well as my period having a really bad odor plus its been a while since I've had a well woman visit. She thinks I might have a fibroid. I go back next week for an ultrasound and blood work. If it is in fact a fibroid I think Id want it removed because its causing spotting like a week before and after my period, which is annoying. Plus the smell is pretty awful.

Tell me about your fibroid experience! Did you have one? Did you have it removed? Did you think you had one and it ended up being something else?! Thanks!
