@wrkbrk: Well, i don't know. My OB prescribed it and said it wouldn't hurt to take it. I wasn't sure if my heavy periods were due to my fibroid or due to a hormonal imbalance of estrogen/progesterone. It looks like my situation is different from yours as you have no symptoms. Like the PP said, the size and location can affect fertility. :bummed:

@wrkbrk: One thing i forgot to add was my own personal experience. I have a fibroid that also contributed to very heavy periods (@BKCaribBaby: not TMI at all!) which made me question whether it contributed to my first miscarriage. I ended up going on progesterone supps for my 2nd and 4th pregnancies. Luckily, my fibroid didn't grow too much during and after my pregnancies.

@BKCaribBaby: ty for your reply. i have zero symptoms so i had NO clue this was a "thing." :( but i guess there is one in there and i think its more the position of it than the size at the moment. i am expecting my RE to suggest removing it and waiting to TTC via IUI til after ... :(

Yes. I have very large fibroids (yep, more than one). It definitely made LO had a hard time moving around my uterus. It also forced us to have a scheduled C-section. Luckily, my fibroids don't hurt, but they ahve cause me to have heavy periods (Sorry, TMI). I have made some changes to my diet and added an herbal supplement, which I think has helped.

The main things with fibroids during pregnancy is the size and/or location of them.

@wrkbrk: The saline sonogram isn't too bad. Probably the worst part was just the amount of fluid that comes back out. The first time I had one done they must have pushed in a lot more fluid because at the end it felt like I was just peeing on the table. But the second one I had done was a lot less fluid. But overall, it was as uncomfortable as a pap usually is.

I had a huge fibroid about 7 years ago, and a myomectomy to remove it. This was well before ttc. I went for an US before Ttc and there was another small one (2cm) but it is in a location that didn't interfere with conception or pregnancy - DS is 5 months. I also hope this is true for you!

I have a fibroid and a pretty big one...i came to know about it when i was 3 months pregnant. My ob put me on high risk but i had a drwam pregnancy except for morning sickness. There were concerns about baby growth but everything went well and i had vaginal delivery. So dont worry about it much.

I had a uterine fibroid surgically removed years before TTC. When I got pregnant with DD, the ultrasound showed I had another, albeit small, one, but it obviously didn't impede my getting pregnant, and I had a totally normal pregnancy. I hope the same for you and that either way, your able to get answers and help!

I have an older friend (late 30s) who discovered she had a submucosal fibroid that was preventing her from getting pregnant. I can't recall the details but basically prevents embryo implantation. She will be getting it removed and hopes that will help.

I hope you get some answers soon.

ETA: She was able to get pregnant, but it's grown quite a bit since her first pregnancy that it's affected her fertility. I believe she was 37 when she had her DD, and it's been a couple of years now of trying.

@wrkbrk: Hey there! Your posts aren't negative. You're just working through some tough stuff on your way to your baby in your belly

My RE noticed a fibroid in my uterus after my HSG. She ordered a saline sonogram to confirm it. And then I had a hysteroscopy to remove it. I was out for the procedure and after my period returned we were able to begin trying again. I do agree that it's important to have the uterus free and clear so it's a happy home for your embryos. FWIW, we did get pregnant a few months after the procedure.

I didn't have any symptoms either. But I do think removing it helped us conceive.

Welp - it seems like my only posts on here are negative BUT. Went for the ultrasound today to check my ovarian reserves and apparently they are ok but my RE found a fibroid (?) that she thinks may block any potential embryo. So, it's back for another ultrasound and then she wants to wait on my first IUI until next month when I will be (threoretically) releasing an egg from the ovary NOT blocked by the fibroid.

Blah!

Anyone have any experience with uterine fibroids? I had no idea - I have had no symptoms ever. Thoughts on fibroids affecting fertility??

:(
