@daniellemybelle: Yeah, maybe. She normally never ever takes 2 longer naps like this. It's normally 2 short, 1 longer.

We also just got back from out of town and her sleep was horrible. She only got like 11 hours a day because of fireworks and then grandparent's watched her for the first time the next day. So that could be a factor as well.

My DH called and told me not to wake her up before her sleep cycle since she fought it so hard, he doesn't want to have a cranky baby when he comes home, haha. So I guess we'll see how it goes tonight!

PS: We did go back & forth for a while if her first 2 naps were not great, we might do a 3rd catnap nursing or in the car. So I'm not saying you have to drop the 3rd nap tomorrow but it's very possible that's on the horizon.

I would let her sleep until 5:40 since 45 min is a typical baby sleep cycle. If I wake my LO before 45 min she is a beast. I might stretch out your wind down routine so bedtime is a little later.

@loveisstrange: Hmm, well if this starts to happen more frequently, I'll probably have to start stretching it out. She really gets cranky at 1.5 hours of awake time, so I'm afraid to push it more than that.

@loveisstrange: Ugh, you're probably right. I'll let her go to 515. That's pretty much my hard, hard cut-off time. And we'll still do bedtime at 630.

Id wake her up. No nap is worth screwing up bedtime.

And thats the age where we dropped the 3rd nap too. We did 10-12 and 2-4, bedtime at 6/6:30.

@Rubies: No, still asleep. :( It's 505, so she's been sleeping for 10 min. I'm so torn!

@abbydabbydoodlebug: That's the age where we started dropping the 3rd nap. Her first two naps were lengthening & so was her wake time, so by the time she was ready for a 3rd nap it was pretty late in the day. We dealt with overtiredness for bedtime for a few weeks since she would not go down easily before 6:30, until she adjusted & got on a lovely 2 nap & 7pm bedtime schedule by 6 months!

She's asleep now, should I go wake her? I'm afraid letting her sleep past 5 is going to screw up her night sleep.

@Rubies: She's only 5 months. She normally goes down really easy, so this is throwing me off! I'm pretty sure she still needs her 3rd nap still. This has never happened where she took it so late.

Bedtime is normally 630-7, depending on when she wakes up from the 3rd nap. She usually will only stay awake 1.5 hrs between naps and about 2-2.5 before bedtime.

My daughter is 9 months old and is down to two naps a day (like you, 9am and 1pm). Her second nap ends at 2:30pm and she's in bed for the night by 6pm, if that helps at all.

How old is your baby? Your napping system sounds great (9 and 1 for 1.5 hours each)...It sounds like your baby is read to give up the 3rd nap!

What time is her regular bedtime?

I don't know what to do! We were having a perfect nap day today. Two 1.5 hour naps at 9 and 1 and I put her down for her 3rd nap at 4 and it's 4:45 and she's not going to sleep! I even tried going up to nurse her to sleep and she nursed, but didn't fall asleep. My usual cut-off for naps is 5pm. Do I just get her up in 15 minutes and go to bed early? What time would I do that then?
