DD gets onto all fours and is perfectly positioned to crawl...and then it's like she thinks, 'This is too much work,' and the plops over onto her side and rolls to whatever she wants. I never crawled, just kind of skipped it and moved on to walking, so I'm waiting to see if that will be the case for DD too.

We had to hear "any day now" for weeks too! So annoying. The other one I hate is "he must be teething!" (okay people, he's been teething for four months now then! shut up!)

My son did this as well! It took what seemed like forever. He was much more interested in trying to walk than crawl. He army crawled at 7m and didn't REALLY start crawling until almost 9m.

Yes! This is my LO, too! She wants to move so bad and is clearly frustrated. She can get herself in the right position and will move forward with one leg, but she can't seem to realize that she needs to keep doing that with the other side. I really want her to get it, but part of me is secretly a teeny bit happy she's not too mobile yet. :)

No son did this too!! He was miserable and in return so were we lol. He did FINALLY get it though. Not much you can do but hunker down and turn the radio on ;-)

@Silva: Yep!! Cause once she starts crawling, there is no stopping them. But it is so cute. I walk into the kitchen and hear her crawling on the hardwoods to come find me.

Hang in there, she'll get it. ;) I feel your pain on the "noise." My 20-month-old makes a lot of whining noises throughout the day that I can still hear when I go to sleep. Instead of "counting sheep" I count the "whining noises jumping over the moon" or whatever. ;)

@Silva: R use to do those too. We felt bad to R too, cause she would grunt and moan cause she was so frustrated. Just watch once they crawl, they pull themselves up standing in like a week!

@Silva: D is 10.5 months and JUST started army crawling about 3 weeks ago, but has been getting into the "crawling position" for probably 2 months. He'll get into position, but then just give up and collapse and - up until 3 weeks ago - roll to wherever he wanted to go.

@Smurfette: I feel so bad for her! My instinct is to help her, but I know she's got to figure it out! It's pretty pathetic to watch.....
She does these crazy down dogs where she almost looks like she's about to stand!
She can go from sit to crawl position now, so at least that gives her some independence

She will get it!!

It took R a month and half from when she first did a plank till she was full of crawling. We were thinking she would never get it, and then boom one day she just did it, like she had been for months.

My poor daughter cannot figure out how to crawl! She has been up on all fours and rocking since before her 6 month appointment. Now, at 7.5 months she can drag her body forward with her arms locked straight (so not really an army crawl), and sort of launch herself forward. But it takes a lot of effort and isn't super fast.
She can get around, but she whines the whooooole time, I assume because she wants to go faster? This whining noise haunts me in my dreams.
Everyone that sees her do this very ungraceful move is like, "Any day now!"- they have all been saying this for at least 6 weeks.
Any day now? Please? :)
