I go by completed weeks, too. I'm 24 weeks + 2 days, but I just say 24 weeks. But, I do read ahead in my books/online - I like to know what's happening during that week.

I find that most people are confused by the week thing, so when people ask me how far along I am I just say I'm X months - like right now, I'll just say, almost 6 months pregnant.

I go with completed weeks. I read ahead though... so I guess I kind of go both ways.

HOWEVER I go with what month I am *in" so I'm 6 months, even though it's more than 3 months till my EDD.

I just go with whatever my doc says and then I apply that to Baby Center so I get my appropriate updates. :) I do know that at 22 weeks today, I'm 6 months along - I tell people months because it's easier. :)

that makes total sense - since we don't normally say we're in our "X" year (by birthdays).

so which "developmental week" would be more accurate, as far as reading the books/apps? the app that refers to me being in my 6th week, or 7th? sorry, I'm just totally confused! haha! :)

For communication with the hospital, it is easier to go with "completed weeks" way of speaking.

So if you are 27w 1 day, you would say you are 27 weeks, rather than saying you are in your 28th week. The hospital will use the number of completed weeks to determine treatment of you, and your baby, if you were to have preterm labour/delivery.

I just find it is easier to speak in terms of completed weeks, because I work in NICU so that is what I am used to, and I think in general it is helpful to learn to speak in the same manner as whoever will care for you/your baby.

I have a couple pregnancy apps on my phone. One says I'm 6 weeks (I am 6w5d). Another says I'm in week 7.

When I counted backward (from today), I have completed 6w and 5d. So this would mean I am IN my 7th week, though I have not completed it and become "7w" yet.

I've been thinking of it like birthdays - when I turn 24, I'll have completed 24 years. I'll then be IN my 25th year.

How did you think of "weeks" of pregnancy?
