I got married 7 years ago now, so I can't remember what our sponsors gave us exactly... But it seems you want a concrete answer, so if I had to guess, I'd say it ranged from $250-$500 per sponsor couple...

I agree with the pp's advice... I'd say just try to give a little more than you usually do for weddings. I know it's tough though because you are traveling too and there are other expenses as well. Give what you can... I'm sure the couple will appreciate anything you give :)

DH is Filipino. We didn't add sponsors to our invite, but we each asked one couple from our side to be sponsors. Both couples were one generation older with established families, and who had special relationships with us. Both couples travelled a considerable distance to be at the wedding.

We received $500 from one couple and $200 plus a physical gift from the other couple. DH and I had no "expectations," since he wasn't that familiar with the tradition and I'm not Filipino. We considered both gifts to be very generous. Depending on what you are comfortable with and what you normally give at a wedding, maybe double the amount or add $100? Hopefully someone else can weigh in too!

I'm interested to see the responses. I guess I always think of the sponsors as a little older and more established and thus in a position to give more than those with a young family.

To those that are familiar with Filipino wedding traditions, do you know what the typical amount of money to give is? DH and I are going to be the veil and cord sponsor for my good friend's wedding. We're flying a considerable distance to be there and all the planning is costing a whole lot more than I expected. However, I do what to contribute to her honeymoon fund.

The reception will be at a hotel, seated dinner, no meal option, I don't think there's an open bar because her family doesn't drink. They appear to be paying for the majority of the wedding themselves and didn't add the typical list of sponsors with the invites, so it may not even be all that traditional ... the typical sponsor expectation might not be there. Idk.

How much do ppl normally give?
