I have the Skiphop play spot. No big complaints, but LO did start to constantly pick up pieces of it and chew them. I'm not sure it would be any different with any other mat, though.

@HeatherlovesKenny: Apparently a lot of the ones you buy are recommended for 18 months and up, though i'm sure a lot of people don't realize it. I want to get these tiles soon so i don't have to keep picking her up every time she reaches the end of the carpet.

I dont think you are making a big deal about it. I just got my soft tiles and I love them! I had the Sassy tiles and the quality just doesnt compare. Too bad they cant work with you on the shipping costs.

I just read about toxic play mats the other day in a medical article and I think it's worth it to make sure they are safe. It's a bummer that they are so spendy to ship to Canada!

My preference would be to get softiles (as also recommended by Mrs. Bee in her gear post http://www.hellobee.com/2012/10/05/mrs-bees-recommended-baby-gear/) but the shipping cost to Canada is ridiculous at $70. Cue sad face.

There is a Canadian company that sells 7/8" thick mats but they are $130 for 10 2x2 mats. They also carry a cheaper line that are 5/8" thick, but they don't specify that they are non-toxic, latex-free, etc. (http://babyplaymats.ca/collections/soft-tiles/soft-floor-tiles)

The skiphop mats are about $90 in Canada, and have gotten mixed reviews on Amazon.

Did anyone purchase any of the above mats? Am i making too big of a deal regarding the mats' toxicity? Input would be great!
