I have a sitter that comes Friday afternoons. It's a lifesaver because we don't have any family close by and there's no such thing as a gym with childcare (jealous, Red)!

I definitely need my downtime and couldn't wait to sleep-train my LO when she turned the recommended 4 mos. After the training was complete and she started sleeping through the night, I was guaranteed baby-free time after 7pm every night. Of course, some of that time is spent on chores and to-do's but I reserved 1-2 hours every night to just watch TV or surf the net.

Around 6 mos, I also found a gym with daycare. That gave me a much needed break during the day when I needed it, with the added benefit of excercise.

Usually during nap time and after my son goes to bed at night. I also try to take a nap when he naps too. Gives me more energy for the rest of the evening.

I always start out with the initial goal of creating more time for myself, but there is always something that gets in the way. This week was no different. My husband worked late 3 nights this week and had to go in on Saturday morning as well. My LO had a horrible fever after getting his shots, and he needed some extra cuddles.

Luckily my dad did come over twice to lend me a hand. I got an extra hour to nap and even a shower. Somehow I don't think that's enough.

I do spend a good chunk of my pumping time catching up on my Google Reader and Hellobee. I think I'll count that in as "me time."

My LO is 8 weeks old, and strangely enough I've had lots of breaks. I love to do home improvement projects and building things, like furniture or picture frames. But, I also haven't really cleaned my house much since giving birth! I pick it up, and do dishes/laundry/cooking, but I've ignored vacuuming and dusting regularly. I value my sanity so much more than an immaculate house. But, I'm not one to be bothered by a little dirt. Mess? Yes.

Do you have family or friends who can come by to give you a break? Our in-laws love to visit and hold our baby girl. So long as I have a bottle or two pumped, they give me at least 2 hours to do whatever, be it going for a cup of coffee or taking a long bath. It's a godsend!

When the hubs gets home from work, I jump in the shower and take my sweet ass time in there - that's my daily down time. When I'm breastfeeding I'll one-handedly surf the web and come onto Hellobee. But for bigger chunks of time, I'll drop my daughter off at my in-laws and go for a coffee by myself.

Good luck!! :)
My LO's almost 7 months old and I'm a SAHM too. I was feeling pretty blah last month right around the time she turned 6 months as well. I started working out for about 30 mins a day and feel so much better now. SInce my husband works at home a lot sometimes I leave the baby with him between feedings and go shopping, run errands, talk on the phone.. have me time. After the baby goes to sleep I blog, browse the internet and jump on Hellobee.com ;)

Today my LO turned 6 months old, and I've been a SAHM who is in major need of a break. Often times it is impossible to find quiet time for myself. When I'm not taking care of my LO, I'm often pumping, washing bottles/parts, cleaning up the house, or cooking. My "down time" happens usually when I'm pumping and go online.

I need to make a better effort on my part to take a break and relax every now and then. I need "me" time, and I will make room for it this week. Wish me luck!

How do you find the time to take a break? What do you do to relax?
