Besides braids, I use a spritz of hairspray if I want super power. Another good natural looking and feeling one is hair mud.

Macadamia nut oil or Argan oil spritz. You can put that in her hair to smooth it before putting it in the braids or pony tails. It helps a lot and isn't chemically.

Even with braids, French braids, ponytails, pigtails, and plenty of hair clips, pieces of her hair manage to escape in minutes! Especially the little flyaway "baby hairs". :(

I wasn't sure where to put this but my daughter (4yo) has really fine hair and there are always pieces falling loose out of her hair ties and hair clips and floating around her face. She also has a lot of baby hair around her face and when her hair dries after a bath it ends up looking like she was touching one of those electricity balls. I've tried tying it tightly, using hair lips and bobby pins, wetting it down again after I tie it, etc. but nothing seems to work. Any other suggestions to help me tame her hair? I was thinking about using a product but don't know how I feel about putting chemicals in her hair every day just for the sake of aesthetics essentially. Her hair is a little past her shoulder and she refuses to cut it any shorter. The hair constantly in her face is really starting to bother me!
