bummer. how scary for him!

we just have our own fire alarms and a CO2 detector on the ground and R likes to press the button to test it to make sure it's working. so she obviously doesn't mind the noise!

@Mrs. Pen: I luckily am out of diapers now, but mine would scream like someone was trying to kill him.

@T.H.O.U.: he's fine with loud noises. We hear sirens all the time from our apartment cause we're a block from the fire station. Even the severe weather alarm that's in the park behind our building doesn't bother him, and they run routine tests with it. But the alarm in our building terrifies him.

@Boogs: seriously.. I hate them too though- he just clings to me like I trying to hurt him! I usually end up just taking him to the car and changing him on the seat

Honestly, I would want to try to expose him as much as possible and try to help him get over the fear. Is the fear from the loud noise? Maybe take him to a parade with sirens? Or a visit to a fire station for a tour.

Poor boy! And I thought mine was the only one who had the issue with the diaper changing stations.

I hate fire alarm drills. They are always, ALWAYS during nap time. Always :bummed:

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I have no idea! I would have asked the building manager but he wasn't in his office when I got home.

Poor C! So far storms haven't scared J. It's so heartbreaking seeing them so scared.

Oh poor J! We have alarm testing on Monday and I have to be home to let them in to our unit. Luckily it doesn't seem to bother her too too much.

Poor J! Why did they do the alarm twice?

We had a horrendous thunderstorm last year that shook Chloe up pretty badly. It hit in the middle of the night and the power went out, and she was in her crib so she couldn't run to us. She will not go in her room anymore unless her light is on. We had a storm last night and she wasn't bothered by it, but she wouldn't go in her room for bed unless her bedroom light was on -- and it has to stay on all night.

So my apartment posted they'd be doing a building wide fire alarm test today at 12:30, so I made sure my nanny had J outside because he is deathly afraid of the alarm (we've set it off while cooking before and it takes a very long time to calm him down).

It came and went, no big deal... Well nanny texts me at 3:30pm that they did the fire alarm test AGAIN, not only waking J from his nap but crying and shaking in terror! Now the poor kid is afraid to go to sleep and keeps whimpering about the fire alarm... Ugh I'm so upset about it! My poor baby. He isn't a fearful child AT ALL- this is only one of two things that scares him (the other being falling off those god-awful public restroom diaper changing things- don't blame him).
