@pachamama: I feel the same way. I feel like a new mom all over again. So far we have done, avocado, sweet potato, banana, scrambled eggs, peaches. She has also accidentally gnawed on a slice of pizza I was eating...

I gave R whatever I was feeding the family. I gave him large chunks of sweet potatoes and roasted carrots a lot around 6 months. And tons of fresh fruit in silicone mesh feeders.

If allergies aren't a concern, I'd definitely do scrambled egg. I got chewed out by my pediatrician for giving R runny eggs and soft boiled eggs under a year. He loves them though!

I do a ton of toast strips with either nut butter, eggs, or avocado. If he can handle dairy, cottage cheese and yogurt are great. So is hummus.

My pediatrician's advice is once they get to be 6 months, as long as you can mash it between your thumb and forefinger and it doesn't have added salt, they can eat it.

We did avocado slices at that age and scrambled eggs. I also roasted veggie slices for E to eat, meatballs and other meats were closer to 6-7 months.

@pachamama: I think once they can pick up the food you could give them soft food. We started DS in puffs at about 7 months and then Cheerios. He’s 9 months now and until about a week ago wouldn’t touch veggies.

Edit: Guess it was closer to 8 months. Here’s a post I started about what to feed him.https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/feeding-an-8-month-old

You guys, I completely forgot what it's like to feed a baby their first foods! My son is 5 months and is really really into food. We've done some fruit and veggie purees and peanut butter. He can feed himself from the spoon 🤔
what were your favorite things to feed a young baby? When can they eat firmer stuff, like mozzarella cheese and bananas and Cheerios and stuff? A mom at preschool suggested soft boiled egg, is this a thing?
