I did a ton of babysitting growing up, and I never had anybody collect any background info on me. I think you'll be fine if you just give her emergency numbers, when to feed her, etc.!

@shopaholic: This looks like a really thorough application that you could have her fill out and say it's a standard application you found.

Thanks ladies! We were planning for her to be awake when we leave, but it doesn't look like she'll be up from her nap yet. I think she'll be OK because she's played with her before at our mommy class for 7 weeks.

I just wonder what kind of info people take down from the babysitter for background info, etc? I feel paranoid to ask for a bunch of her info, but then I think I should.

Include LOs full name, date of birth and pediatricians ph number. Even if it's the weekend, it's good to have that info in case of emergency. You might want to leave a key in case they want to walk to the playground or something?

Is she going to be ok when she wakes up and you aren't there?

Otherwise I just tell where some of her favorite toys are, snacks, when she should have a snack, diapers are, our numbers,

Tomorrow we are trying out a non-family member babysitter for the first time. She's watched LO before at a mommy/parenting class. She was one of the hired babysitters by the class and K really took a liking to her.

I just thought about what I should do before/when she gets here because it's our first time. Obviously, a list of phone numbers and what to feed her for dinner. She'll come during LO's nap time and we'll be home before her bath time.

Any tips or suggestions?
