My original party plan was going to be brunch but DD has decided to start dropping her second nap more days than not :( so the original 11am is a wonky time. But food I was thinking:
Fruit salad
Quiches (Lorraine, spinach, veggie?)
Stratta
Baked French toast
Bacon
Hash browns
Waffles with fixings
Then Danishes and cupcakes for dessert

French toast casserole
Yogurt parfait station

For the hot chocolate bar, I'm sure you can get away with just a couple of toppings...toffee chips, mini chocolate chips, caramel syrup, marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkles, sea salt, peppermint sticks, Oreo crumbs.

I want to come to your party!

yay so many good ideas!! thank you!

my grandmother is making a bacon, egg and cheese casserole. my brother is making these killer homefries he whips up, and his girlfriend offered to make eggs benedict (I think - I don't eat eggs so I wasn't even sure but said thank you!!).

My Mom suggested quiche, and I'll get some "picky" things like bagels, fruit, and some different types of donuts to cut up. I'm excited!

Nervous about the hot chocolate bar, though. I should start practicing recipes. I've been told crock pot hot chocolate is delicious but I want to be sure!

We had a lot of family over for Christmas brunch and costco's frozen quiche were actually a big hit. They come in a huge pack (I think 70).

Fruit salad and breakfast casseroles are always good!

I agree with just adding donut holes. Some places do plain glazed and chocolate glazed. No more dessert necessary! Quiche or breakfast casseroles. Hot chocolate and apple cider in crock pots with marshmallows, flavored marshmallows, sprinkles, mini candy canes, whipped cream. Delegate fresh fruit and juice to those family members that offered to help!

we did brunch for DD's last party--I made a couple of french toast casseroles (put everything together the night before and bake before party time), got some quiche and pastries from costco, cut up fruit, etc.

@sorrycharlie: haha we have a place that does "Texas" Donut cakes too. Because everything is bigger in Texas! ;)

What about donut holes? It's a brunchy food and goes with the donut cake idea.

I like making mini quiche in muffin form. You can easily bake it the day before and just warm up morning of.

Bacon!!!!

For the hot chocolate: Mini marshmallows, some "cigar" cookies as a stir stick, whipped cream

We did a brunch for DS' birthday and kept it really low key for us parents' sake. I found this menu to be really stress-free, and everything was eaten.

- bagels, lox, cream cheese (self-serve, self-toast)
- croissants that we warmed up in the oven with spreads (jams, nutella - self-serve)
- spanish tortilla
- braised pork shoulder (momofuku style) in place of bacon
- fruit platter, berry platter

We had about 30 people (about 12 or so kids) and i felt that it was enough food. We did mini cupcakes from a local bakery, which i find is always a hit.

I normally would do a lot more (egg strata, baked french toast, cinnamon rolls, etc.) but DH was adamant that i not go crazy. :meh:

I don't think there will be many kiddos here, but not sure yet! The party is 11-1 pm but instead of lunch, we're doing brunch (right around 11).

I need help with some food ideas - some family members have asked what they can help with. I'm unsure on guest count but somewhere around 30-50 people. I know that's a big gap, but sometimes all kids come (one family), sometimes none. Oh well.

Anyway dessert, we ordered a large donut cake (literally - a giant donut!), and I'm going to have a hot chocolate bar (ideas on toppings?!). I need some other ideas here - smash cake for LO, cupcakes too? Something different and chocolate-y?

theme is winter one-derland / penguins if that helps with any creative ideas at all :D
