@Raindrop: glad I'm so cute :) I think I will send an invite to my cousin in Hawaii with a note since they may be planning a trip in the spring with their new babe.

@Meowkers: awesome that was my thought, thanks.@Autumnmama79: we have a huge group of high school friends about 10 family's that are our core group of friends but the whole big group is like 20 families, so we won't invite everyone. Between that and 30-40 family members and our other friends we see regularly it's a crowd.

Oh I had the same thoughts when I was going through this with my first. Haha. You are cute!

I ended up not invited out of town because we agreed it would feel like they were obligated to come and would make them feel guilty for not coming.

I wouldn't mention gift or no gift because gifts should be up to the person coming. If someone ask about gifts... just give a polite answer like LO really seems into blocks and books but anything is fine, thank you for asking.

I invited my siblings and a couple cousins and zumas playgroup and their parents. And I mentioned "no gifts, if you feel the need you can bring a book and we will donate it to the local children's hospital"

I did not sent invites to out of town family. I knew they wouldn't come so I don't really see the point. I only sent invites to people who I actually wanted there and for whom it was feasible to actually attend.

I did not mention gifts on the invite.

Ts birthday is coming up in 10ish weeks and my sister is designing the invites so we are trying to figure out how many to order. We are doing it open house style at a pizza place- like 1-3 and buying pizza & pop for everyone. There will be a salad bar and beer on tap if people want to do that.

For a first birthday do you just invite everyone? For us that would be 45 invites (not including out of town) and about 100 people. Does that seem excessive?

My Aunt said people like to get invites even if they live out of town. My Mom said not to put no gifts on the invite but I don't want to seem gift grabby to out of towners.

I'm a little stumped but have to decide soon. Thoughts? Is this too many people? Do I send to out of town family? Perhaps with a note and photo?
