If people are going to be traveling to this party and on the road durning lunch I would have something with a little substance. We did heavy apps (we ended up having some mini sandwiches) but no one went hungry.<br /> Just because you're not serving a traditional entree, salads, sides etc doesn't mean people can't make do with what you're providing. You're telling them, it's their fault of they don't read the invitation. Besides, a kid party is max, two hours? Unfortunately, our home is way too small to include anyone other than our parents and siblings, so it looks like we will rent out a community room in a family member's neighborhood.</p> <p>To keep costs down since the rental is a lot, we are thinking about having a dessert party, but the more I think about this, the more I wonder if this is appropriate/acceptable. I am thinking that 1:00pm is the best time given LO's nap schedule (usually goes down around 3:00ish) but am concerned that people will be upset that there's no real food. I would state specificially on the invitation that dessert will be served, but do I need to push the party later to make this work?</p> <p>Also, would you think it was weird to be invited to a dessert party?</p> <p>Any and all suggestions/criticisms welcomed! </p>
