I wouldn't invite people only because they invited you. People understand that some parties need to be kept smaller due to many reasons (budget, space, age of the child). If you want to go to their parties, go! If they ask what you're doing for your LO's bday, say you're having a small party because of whatever reason.

If you are inviting some people from playgroup, I'd probably invite all of them. I just personally would feel bad, if I was the person not invited and I heard others talking about it.

If it's just a family and close friends party, more intimate, I wouldn't invite them.
If it's an actual party where they would fit in easily, I think it'd be safer to just invite them.

But, in the end, you should definitely do what you think will make you happiest when you look back on the party in several years - who knows how long those people will be in your life :)

I think first birthday parties are like weddings- invite who you want and not out of obligation.

We just invited close friends and family. Only people who actually saw and interacted with my LO in that first year. I know a few of my friends were probably upset we didn't invite them, but honestly they don't even know my LO because they have never seen him or even shown interest in him.

I guess it depends on who you want there and what you wanted for your LO. I would probably invite them but if close family is all you wanted than I wouldn't worry about not inviting them either.

I invited family and close friends, we didn't invite the mom group friends...but we had all talked about our party ideas so they already knew. I wouldn't change my party count, but I've already planned my food, loot bags ect.

Eek I can't believe they will be 1 right away! Seems like just yesterday I was suffering from let cramps and heart burn!

If I was in a playgroup, I think I would invite them. Especially if they are inviting you. I'm going to invite my neighbors who have kids (something I hadn't planned before) just because we have chatted some now and our kids know each other.

We have always done just family when they are so young. We figure there will always be birthdays with friends when they are older and interact with them more.

I can't believe it, but our little guy is turning one is less than a month! I have planned the party and sent out invites to family and friends.

However, just a few days after sending them out, I have received 3 other party invitations for babies that are turning 1 in our Mom's group. I hadn't thought about inviting any of these people(except 1 who I hang out with outside of the group), but now they are inviting us.

What to do? Do I invite them just because they invited us? Do I turn down their invites if I don't invite them? Oh gosh they're going to see the pics and know they weren't invited on fb.
