We have actually started C off with markers. We tried crayons, but because the ones we had required some pressure to get a mark, she didn't enjoy it much. We got the super washable Crayola 8-pack (they wash off really easily!), stuck her in a cardboard box, and let her go to town!

@scg00387: Haha, not exactly. They just have a box of a bunch of leftover ones they were only used a little. 4 kids = a lot of boxes of crayons over the years.

@Bao: @scg00387: hmm, you know, I assumed only the ones that specifically stated they were washable were washable... Not sure if they all are?? I don't really wanna risk it though! :)

@Bao: we have the triangle ones too. We find that they still break pretty easily

We got DD the P'Kolino Triangle Crayons. The shape and larger size made it easy for her to grip starting at around 12 months plus the were an ease to clean up. Highly recommend them! She's been using them daily for almost a year and they still look great.

My mother bought regular crayons for LO so that's what we use. I don't let her use it unless she is in her high chair so she can't make too much of a mess

LO does fine with regular crayola. However, whenever I remember I'm investing in ColorWonder products. She doesn't try to color on things other than paper, it just happens.

We have and really like these M&D triangular crayons. Thick, don't roll away, and hard to break (although he has chipped the tip off of two of them).

We make sure to get the washable crayolas. Unfortunately I haven't found them in the jumbo size yet and they keep breaking, but it's vital that they be washable for us because she tends to get them everywhere (hardwood floor, table, etc).

I would be interested if ppl had suggestions for sturdier washable crayons :)

LO has had fun with crayons at the kid's museum so I thought I'd try some at home.

I've looked at some of the eco-friendly versions, and the chunkier Crayola versions, and would like some recommendations!
