@MUI831: That's the one I've been looking for, thanks! Ordering it now!

@hilsy85: Yeah I don't really want to do a sippy either, but it's the only one that is sort of working for now. Hopefully this straw one teaches her.

We tried a bunch of straw cups, but settled on the thermos one.
We use that mostly, but try to use a regular open cup on a semi-regular basis.
We skipped the sippy because I didn't want to deal with transitioning her away from it. She sputtered and choked on water for awhile, but she's getting the hang of it now and it never seemed to bother her much.

B still doesn't get how to use a straw cup, so we just use an open cup. It's annoying, but we've both gotten much better about not spilling it all down the front of him.

I used this one for water since you could squeeze the bottom of it to make water come up the straw. It took a few tries but he got it.

We used the zoli cup. IT took him a few weeks to get the hang of it, but then he loved it. I like the weighted straw because even if he tips the cup and drinks, he will still get liquid. I know there' is a playtex straw cup that you can squeeze to make the liquid come up that ppl like.

I didn't want to do a sippy because I figued then it would be another transition to a straw cup, so I just went straight to straw.

What did you do for water when your baby was first learning? I feel like I have tried several options and I'm not really happy with anything, but before I go buy another cup, looking for your experiences.

So far, we have a sippy cup that C can drink out of on her own, but I think it's too big, so when it's full enough that she can get to the water, it's heavy, and she drops it off the high chair a lot (scaring the poor dog waiting for scraps!). She likes drinking out of an open cup, but I'm pretty sure most of it goes down her chin and chest. Plus, well, that's just annoying-- I'd like something she can hold herself at some point soon. I have to hold the open cup. I have bought a couple of straw cups but she doesn't really get it yet. They are so hard to suck on, even for me, I don't know how she is supposed to figure out that water comes out. I tried putting a regular plastic straw in it and it's still not working. I can't seem to find a softer one that I could squeeze, so push some water up the straw, but I'm going to BBB this weekend.

So, how did you do it? What was the process and what cups did you like?
