Maybe a polo for the first day but after that just normal play clothes. It's not really "school" to me quite yet. They paint a ton and he tends to come home dirty from the playground, so I don't send him in anything nice, ever. Last year was his first, and he got sent home in his extra clothes on the first day of school because they got so wet from the playground. I just ordered her a new dress this morning. I let her choose from a few options and she picked my least favorite, but the cheapest one. And I believe she picked it because I said Daddy liked it. The real bonus was that she has shoes that already match. So they specifically request the kids wear play clothes that can get good and dirty. We will probably send her in shorts and a T-shirt. Most of my kids' clothes are things that have been handed down, bought on sale, or bought consignment but I was thinking it might be fun to do a back to school shopping trip to pick out first day of school outfits. Granted, it's only preschool and potentially full price items for a whole outfit is making me hesitate! What do you do for your first day of school outfit? </p>
