My first solo day I sat on couch and watched Mad Men on Netflix and snuggled my LO who slept the whole day. I did put dinner in the crockpot so we had a homecooked meal & I napped some. I was battling low iron so I was super tired all the time.

I was purely on survival mode with my first daughter. Lots of TV, lots of food, and lots of wishing the time would pass by (my first daughter was over-the-stop colicky and the first 4 months of her life was a nightmare).

I'm currently on mat leave again with my second daughter and it's practically the same but less stress as she is super laid back. We go to the mall a lot...Visit people...Have people visit us, etc.

We sat and nursed. I had one of my sisters there and she did everything else for me. I just took care of baby.

DH went back on day 3 of being home. I was a wreck since I wanted him home. I barely ate anything. I just slept on the couch most of the day with LO

Today is my third day home alone.

The first day we left the house early for a dr appt. From there we went straight to the weekly new moms support group in my town. After that we went out for a late lunch with some of the moms and babies in the group. Then we stopped home briefly to pick up our sick cat and take him to the vet. We left the house at 7:30am and got home at 6:30pm. Everyone survived, and the cat is doing better too!

ETA: My husband took three weeks off.

I sat on the couch and fed the baby. We went on a walk with the dog. There was no organization because I was still in survival mode.

I had visitors lined up that week and LOs doctor's appointment. I also put her in the ergo and went for walks. It went ok. The best thing I did was put her in her swing for her first nap of the day and have a shower. I picked that nap, because she took it the easiest and I could get that shower in. Oh, and there was no organization that early.

My DH was back at work 5 days after LO was born. We just hung out on the couch, breastfed, napped. It was a good day if I managed to eat breakfast before 2pm, let alone get dressed in real cloths. My advice is to not have any expectations and just go with the flow. I also always had the goal of making it out of the house at least once a day for a walk. That was immensely important for my sanity.

Oh and if your DH is now taking care of LO he should do so after he goes back to work and comes home, he could maybe take care of the bed time routine. My hubs always enjoyed that.

I sat on the couch with my LO and watched DVD's! My midwife told me that expectations were the downfall of new mothers and it was great advice :-) Just get both of you showered / cleaned, dressed and fed and you're doing great!

Laid around and nursed DS. On the 2nd or 3rd day though my friend came into town. She convinced me to go out to lunch even though I was nervous. DS slept the entire time we were there. But in the middle of lunch my boobs started leaking! Thank goodness it was December and I had a jacket to put on haha.

My first day with my son, I basically sat on the couch all day nursing, tried to shower and eat.

With my daughter, my husband had already been home for a month, but she was a much easier newborn. I don't even remember what I did, but I probably took a walk and went to the grocery store.

My husband went back to work three days after she was born and everything was just fine! My biggest memory was the constant breastfeeding. Minus the night wakings, I thought the early weeks were the easiest. I took baby on lots of walks, took pictures, read her books etc. Good luck!!!

Pretty sure I just sat on the couch, breastfed the baby and ate donuts the first day :). Babies are all so different, so I don't have any real words of wisdom. I will say that it wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be once DH went back to work. Just be good to yourself the first few days. Make sure you have a fridge stocked with ready to eat food and wear your yoga pants for three days straight if you need to.

So my husband goes back to work Monday and I'm scared!! We have had such an amazing 2 weeks of caring for our son together and I'm just not sure how I'll cope on my own. Can you share your stories of solo leave time, how did you organise your days, what did you do, etc?
