Lots of TV, lots of food, and lots of wishing the time would pass by (my first daughter was over-the-stop colicky and the first 4 months of her life was a nightmare). </p> <p>I'm currently on mat leave again with my second daughter and it's practically the same but less stress as she is super laid back. From there we went straight to the weekly new moms support group in my town. After that we went out for a late lunch with some of the moms and babies in the group. Then we stopped home briefly to pick up our sick cat and take him to the vet. We left the house at 7:30am and got home at 6:30pm. I also put her in the ergo and went for walks. It went ok. The best thing I did was put her in her swing for her first nap of the day and have a shower. I picked that nap, because she took it the easiest and I could get that shower in. We just hung out on the couch, breastfed, napped. It was a good day if I managed to eat breakfast before 2pm, let alone get dressed in real cloths. My advice is to not have any expectations and just go with the flow. I also always had the goal of making it out of the house at least once a day for a walk. That was immensely important for my sanity. </p> <p>Oh and if your DH is now taking care of LO he should do so after he goes back to work and comes home, he could maybe take care of the bed time routine. On the 2nd or 3rd day though my friend came into town. She convinced me to go out to lunch even though I was nervous. DS slept the entire time we were there. But in the middle of lunch my boobs started leaking! My biggest memory was the constant breastfeeding. Minus the night wakings, I thought the early weeks were the easiest. Babies are all so different, so I don't have any real words of wisdom. I will say that it wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be once DH went back to work. Just be good to yourself the first few days.
