@abbydabbydoodlebug: The monsters don't scare her at all. The first scaring scene in the beginning is goofy (the monster falls down on his bum) so it wasn't scary to her at all. And she loved Mike and Sully and of course Boo Baby.

I never realized the more adult tones the Disney movies have. DS loves them at 3 but I find myself reminding him that it will be ok. :bummed:

I have this same problem and my son is almost 5! I am actually surprised at some of the elements in the Pixar movies!

Is Madagascar a good choice?

@rattles: yes aristocrats would be good!

I was very sensitive and always had a hard time with the Disney movies when I was very little. So far my son does not seem to be at all. We are surprised because DH and I were both very sensitive kiddos.

Nemo is totally scary. I learned that with my older nephews. Lion king is also very scary. We won't watch either. If you want a great movie that isn't scary at all, any Curious George movie. Try the one with Jack Johnson on the soundtrack for parental enjoyment, as well.

Awwww sad but adorable. Don't feel bad. I let my two year old watch the thriller video the other day. I thought she would like the dancing, but I forgot how scary (and totally not age appropriate) the beginning is. Luckily, she had no idea what was happening and only half paid attention anyway. Mommy fail.

Poor kid! My DD loved Lady and the Tramp and Aristocats at her age. Classic and nothing too scary.

I have this problem with my youngest - big brother's favorite movie is Frozen and my youngest starts to cry every time the snow monster comes after Anna and Kristoff. I do NOT recommend Monsters Inc for the sensitive kid - even if the scenes with monsters in the rooms doesn't scare her, I'm betting the scene where Randall has Boo in that machine will.

I recommend Lilo and Stitch!

@daniellemybelle: yeah maybe those will be better! Although, I'll admit I wanted something I would enjoy too since we were watching it together and Thomas just doesn't do it for me, haha. But she'd definitely like it better! The scene where the divers took Nemo, oh my. DD almost lost it entirely. Poor thing.

Aw! LO (newly 2) did well with Finding Nemo but I did notice her being worried about Nemo and Marlin. 101 Dalmatians on the other hand was rough!

What about character movies? There is a Sofia the First movie, Curious George movies, Thomas & Friends movies, etc.

@Golden: the monsters scaring them in the rooms didn't freak your kid out? Or is it not long enough to really do that?

@Tanjowen: hahaha, awwww! Poor sweet thing. My DD is a "sympathy cryer" at the MOPS group I go to, so I'm thinking she's more sensitive than I realize. Though, she doesn't cry at Daniel tiger. Actually, now that I think about it, she did go "oh noo!" Really worried like in one episode. I can't remember which one though. I'll definitely have to sift through movies though now.

No advice, only commiseration! My LO cries watching Daniel Tiger, hahaha. Such a tender soul. The only thing he watches with out crying lately is Clifford, the Big Red Dog. Maybe a movie is out there featuring him? Unfortunately most of the kiddie flicks have a good vs. evil/bad aspect so I have a feeling we will not be watching them for some time.

Soooooo... it's been raining (and flooding here in Austin, TX) today, so DH and I thought we'd treat DD to her first full length movie night. She loves TV (good and bad thing! Ugh), so we chose Finding Nemo since she knows Nemo from a set of bath toys she has. Well..... she was SO WORRIED for Nemo the whole movie and would ask/cry for him. Lol. At points, she had real tears in her eyes. Oops. I thought I'd be safe because I skipped the first scene with the barracuda, but I had completely forgotten all the other scary scenes! #momfail

Any other movie fails? Recs for movies that won't traumatize my sensitive girl? (She's 21 months old)
