It's like the official middle name of Catholic girls I think. My maiden name was very common as well, and my first name peaked in popularity the year I was born, so I guess none are all that different. There was a girl in my neighborhood with the same first and last-- I never met her but we went to several of the same spas, gyms, etc. My married last name is very uncommon in the US (more common in England).
