Yeah, don't listen to them! Your routine seems absolutely fine. I stressed about solids at first but I kept reading that anything before about 1 year, the main nutrition still is bm/formula. So it's more for exposure than anything else! I didn't start solids till closer to 7 months and at 12 months I was still only giving 2 meals. We've only recently started 3 meals a day! You are absolutely fine.

At 5 months she should be getting lots of BM every day. At that age I just did one meal. At probably 7 months I added a second meal because he was wanting to nurse more.

I would try more variety of foods before adding to the quantity.

Listen to your instincts. You know your baby best.

@FaithFertility: i think the amount you're giving is fine. The only suggestion i would make is to give her other things besides rice cereal. There have been concerns about possible arsenic in rice products, it's still safe to give but i would just give other foods as well.

You are FINE!!!

My daughter is 9m and most days I only give her 1-2 meals of solids a day! Only if there's something I want her to eat. Don't stress it. My older daughter never decreased her BM intake despite going to 3 meals a day until we bottle weaned after 1! DD2 isn't nursing any less either despite being on solids and that's the way it should be imo.

DD turned 5 months on the 17th I started her on rice cereal about a few days before this
Just about 1 serving a day
We are up to 2 meals of cereal a day and I now add in carrots and we will be adding more types every 3-4 days
I am getting a lot of pressure from parents to feed her more, as they seem to think the more solids she eats the less bf I do, which I know will naturally happen but I am not cutting out feedings yet....

Our schedule looks like this:
6:30-7 up nurse
7:30 feeding of cereal about 2-3 tbl spoons

10-10:30 nurse

1-2 nurse

4-5 feeding of cereal and veggie try some milk in sippy

5:30-6 nurse

7:30-8 nurse for bed

Seem ok?
I hate how they make me second guess what I am doing....lol

Of course this is vague I will feed her if she seems hungry
But she for the most part will go 3-3.5hrs between feedings
