This happened to just two years ago, when we lost my Nanna to breast cancer. Being there for my Mum was the most important thing for me - because I know she was struggling - so just be there. Maybe let her make the call; would she rather go OUT and do something, or stay in and just reflect together? xx

I don't have any advice. Wanted to tell you that I'm so sorry about the loss of your grandma. Hope your mother is okay, too.

this was us last year with my Grandpa. Who we were really close with. June is his bday and also father's day and then 4th of July was always spent with them at his lake house. It's just a hard time for everyone. Our's was such a blur that I can't even recall what we did. I know for Christmas my brother gave my dad my grandpa's favorite bottle of gin. I usually go with the photos of the grandkids in a nice frame. I had plans to gift money to the church in his name so he could have a leaf on their "tree of life". I need to follow-up with that idea. I've called the church several times to find out how much and they never got back to me. Ugh. I hope my comment will spark an idea for you. I'm sorry for your loss.

Would she wear any jewelry with her initial and/or birthstone? Did your grandma had a favorite anything that you can incorporate into the gift?

I am sorry

My maternal grandma passed away when I was only 12 so I didn't do anything then. Does your mom have a yard? Maybe you could plant a tree with a little placard or something in the ground by it in memory of her? Maybe something pretty that will blossom each spring around her birthday/Mother's Day :-)

I'm really struggling to figure out what to do for my mom this mother's day. Her mom passed away last month, and we have two hard firsts coming up - May 1st would've been her 72nd birthday, and obviously her first Mother's Day without her is coming up. She told me she had a bit of a meltdown when the Mother's Day stuff started showing up in stores.

If you lost your maternal grandma as an adult, was there anything special you did for your mom that first Mother's Day? I'm kind of at a loss here. I was trying to think of some kind of gift that would honor my grandma too but am having trouble coming up with anything.
