Sounds like a good meeting! I went to DS's first meeting when he was almost 3.5 (he started school at 2 and we weren't there when the first conference was held). He was in Montessori at the time and the teacher just had positive things to say. The one suggestion she made was to have him do sports like swimming to help develop his muscles, which would help develop his fine motor skills. She said he had big hands and big fingers so was a bit more clumsy/awkward with handling smaller toys or coloring.

Eta: forgot to mention that she also said his German was very good. It was a dual language school and since I don't speak German, I have a hard time judging where his language development is.

I went to LOs first parent conference at two and it was exciting. I can't remember what they said though I have it written somewhere. I just went to LOs 3 yr conference she is doing well, first to answer, knows tons of body parts, counts to 39, good hygiene- I was a little surprised about that as she is a messy eater- but her weakness is that she grasps the pencil with a fist. Of course I immediately started working on correcting that at home when I heard that. At the beginning of the year she was somewhat aggressive but she is fine now. I love hearing feedback from another perspective. Especially the good stuff!

Aaw, im glad your LO is doing well.

I feel awful because we missed E's first "parents evening". We could make appointments between 6pm and 8pm...... and E goes to bed at 6! I put off making the appointment because I planned to ask a friend to sit for us and then I..... FORGOT! How awful am I??! I remembered about it a couple of weeks late!

She's 2 and she's stubborn?? Come on. No way! Sounds great! I'm hoping parent teacher conferences will be good for us when we move to our new daycare/preschool in January. I love the idea of them! Plus, our daycare let's us bring our kids so we don't have to get a sitter. Some places don't let you bring your kid with you for them and I just don't get that.

It feels like somewhat of a milestone, our first parent/teacher conference!

LOs school was closed today so that parents could set up conferences if they wanted. We grabbed the first spot of the day and scheduled her 2 year well check right after, so it was a productive morning!

LO started attending a Montessori school back in September, and just turned two last week.

Overall, they said she was doing pretty well, and had been improving since she started. They did say she was very stubborn and they were working on teaching her to follow directions. They also said they want to hear more talking.

We're going to work with her on these specific topics, but we kind of were all in agreement that a lot of that will come simply with age, and its normal to be stubborn and not follow directions at 2.

I'm glad we had the chance to sit down and speak to her, because we've only met her once when we picked LO up when she was sick in the middle of the day. Otherwise we drop off before the teacher gets there and pick her up long after the teacher is gone for the day.

Have you attended parent/teacher conferences? What topics did your LO struggle with and/or excel at?
