I got pregnant 8 months post partying without ever getting a period, then it came back 11 months postpartum with #2 without me having to wean, but he was eating some solids at that point. I didn’t notice any difference with length or flow but I went back on the pill as soon as I weaned at 12 months.

@cake2017: I dealt with prolonged bleeding with my Nexplanon. I bled for up to 4 1/2 weeks but it was never heavy enough to be an issue, it sucked! My OB did give me an estrogen script to take for a week that finally made it stop. I don't know if they'll do the same for a pp period or not. My first one was terrible but it only lasted a week, then I had my Nexplanon put in at my 6 week check and it messed with it a lot. I'd go months without a period then bleed for a couple few weeks, then none for a few months.

@MamaBear87: It’s not heavy so they aren’t concerned. I’ve been in contact with my OB, specialist and PCP... all of them said I was fine. No anemia! So I guess I just wait it out...

@cake2017: bleeding for 3.5 weeks is not normal. Is it more than spotting? If so I'd make an appointment to be seen if for nothing else than to be checked for anemia.

My period came back at 12 weeks pp and my little was ebf. It was regular ish from the first one. Usually 4-5 days long

@JennyPenny: no birth control! I’m still nursing but he’s on some solids too. He’s almost 10 months and the period has been going for almost 3.5 weeks! It stopped for one day and then started back again. Ob not concerned and said it will go back to normal. I’m annoyed 😐.... curious how it worked for y’all!

@cake2017: Are you by chance on the mini pill? With DS1 I had a period every two weeks so I was basically bleeding half of every month. With DS2, my first postpartum period was 10 days and when I got another one 3 days later I quit the mini pill. Then I went 2 months with no period before getting a regular one. Not sure if this will turn out to be a regular cycle now or not but I definitely bled more than necessary on the mini pill.

DD1: It came back at 6 months and was horrific the first two times. It was normal after that

DD2: It came back at 8 months and was even worse than my first PP period with DD1. However, it's been pretty manageable since then and lighter than pre-baby.

I got my period about 1 year postpartum (don't remember exactly, may have been about 13 months). My son was obviously eating solids by then but still nursing quite a bit (he was EBF the whole time). I remember for about a month or two before I got my period back, I would have spells of cramping *feeling* like I was about to get it, and it never came. It was about normal, not too bad. Once I got the first one, I got them regularly every month after that. Actually, my cycles were very irregular pre-baby (I had to go on Clomid) and pp they were extremely regular and I ovulated normally. Like the pregnancy reset my body or something.

I kept nursing my son until he was 2y3m and only weaned him then because I was pregnant.

I bled pp for 3 weeks, had 2 weeks off, then started my period. My son was EBF as far as milk or formula for the first 4 months, then he would get at most 1 bottle of formula a day at daycare depending on how my pumping went. He started solids at 4 months. He nursed until 10 1/2 months.

My first pp period wasn’t bad at all. I was 13 months pp and it was 5 days, no cramping, not too much blood. I was nursing about 4 times a day and not overnight anymore. I was pleasantly surprised because pre baby it was horrific. I only had one period and then got pregnant again... my second is almost 8 months old and no period yet. I’m not ready!

I got it at 1 y postpartum, when I stopped pumping at work about 2 weeks earlier.

I had one at 18 months post partum. We were nursing twice a day and he was mainly on solids. It was like 4-5 days and not bad. I was so surprised. Then 4 weeks later I got pregnant, so I have no idea if that was a fluke or not

@cake2017: might have been a little longer than normal? I did have spotting (but not heavy) almost continually the first time from birth and eventually had it checked out to find a benign polyp they removed. That was before my real af though.

My periods PP have been so much better than before babies. They are lighter and shorter. I didn't get them back until I started weaning 13months the first time, 11 months the second and 7 months pp currently with no AF.

I definitely had to wean to get pregnant so that was the main motivator, but now that we're 99% done I'm in no hurry to wean so hoping AF will stay away too. <3

Hi all,

I am curious to know your experience....

How long were you on your period if you were breastfeeding, supplemented, introducing solids etc?????

Did your periods start to regulate after a few months????

Thanks!
