@LCTBQE: thanks! 😊
@justjules: I’m sure you don’t have to wait, weve been putting her hair up like this since we could scrape together enough strands for a pony tail. The reason we started doing two is actually because she didn’t have enough hair to reach to the middle of her head, lol.
We use the exact ones that @Pumuckl: linked, and they work with less hair, too.

@Pumuckl: ok that's the size I probably will need. Thanks! I'm going to try and see if she has enough hair

@justjules: we use these for baby pigtails. The smallest size isn’t even as big as my pinky in diameter: https://intl.target.com/p/goody-174-multi-size-elastic-275-ct/-/A-11962409

@justjules: The tiny plastic elastics hold hair really well, even if it's just a little bit of hair. Like others I cut them out so it doesn't pull.

Thanks for all the recs. I'm now rethinking if she has enough hair. It's really thin- the elastics posted seem too thick.
@MrsRoo: what a cutie. DD has even less hair so i may need to wait

We used the small rubber elastics but they pull the hair painfully when you take them out so I always cut them out to avoid pulling her hair.

We just use the little plastic Goody ones (multi-colored). DD1 has SUPER thin hair and didn't have enough for any type of ponytail until at least 1.5 (probably older) but we're still using them at 3.5. I wind them a few times and they definitely stay put. They don't seem to pull out hair when I take them out but I either unwind them (not just pull like DH tries to do) or cut them out if they're really hard to get out.

We usually cut ours out! That helped with not ripping hair out.

(Even now for 6yo hair - I find i can’t reuse them once they stretch)

I love love love these. They're silicon, so they don't catch in her hair but are stretchy enough that I can wrap them enough times. The ones linked above always fell out in my LO's hair, but these stay put.

We use little colored rubber ones. My 2 yo has barely any hair and these hold well. She’s never complained about me putting them in or taking them out, shes actually loves picking out which color elastics we put in every morning.
This is the amount of hair we are working with for reference.

I did not like the black rubber ones even if they say it doesn't hurt, it does! I believe these are the ones I use and my girls both have fine hair.

E is almost one and maaaaybe has enough hair for a little pigtail.

What elastics are good for thin hair?
Will it damage her hair if I pull it back? She doesn't have a lot of it.
