@bees_knees: They're still pretty awful but I think they're getting slightly better. I've had 5 or 6 periods since DD was born.

@littlebug: Good to hear - I hope mine do the same! I think I'm 5-6 months in so hopefully it will get better soon.

After baby 1, it was like a murder happened in my pants. It was so awful. I had to leave early from work and drive to Target for bigger pads and I got stopped by a train and was crying because I could feel my pad filling up and I was afraid I would bleed all over my (light) skirt.

I haven't had mine yet after this baby and I'm frightened.

@SKINNYCOW: This has been my experience following baby #2. A is 15m, I got my period around 6 or 7m PP, and it's been like that since then, so...8 or 9 months? It's getting better - each month that first awful day seems a little lighter. But man, the first 6 months or so was horrific! Hopefully it continues to get lighter and more manageable.

@mauxie: I'm on Day 8 of bleeding right now. WTF.

@mrskansas: wondfo negative! As I assumed, but always looking for an excuse to pee on something ;)

@fancyfunction: Ugh and of course you're always in public when you start heavily bleeding like that! Glad yours improved. Hope I'm as lucky!

@Pollywog: Order a pizza, doctor's orders? I can get on board with that ;)

@bees_knees: mine was light for the first couple days then sooo heavy. Super tampon and pad always. It only lasted about 5 days total I think but wish. Lots of blood. My DD was 10ish months too when I got it a couple weeks ago. Boooo.

@bees_knees: I've never had a postpartum period, but I had the same thing after a D&C and was told it was normal for the uterus to have a sudden purge. From my OB, long as clots are no bigger than a golf ball and you don't soak one pad per hour for 3 hours, you'll be fine. Order a pizza (salt and calories) and drink at least 3 glasses of water.

My first pp period with my second wasn't this extreme but it was a lot, lot heavier than normal.
We were out one night and I really thought I was bleeding through my dress (fortunately i wasn't!) the next one was heavier too but it's all seemed to have gone back to normal now. Hoping yours does too!

My period after my first kid was pretty much the same as pre-kid. Now after my 3rd kid, they are insanely heavy the first couple days and last longer than they used to, ~8 days. It sucks.

My PP periods have been out of control. I bleed very very heavily the first 2 days (like soaking through super tampons every 45 mins and leaking out of a diva cup every 1-2 hours). They also last 7-8 days.

It seems odd that your period would become super heavy a few days in, though!

@KT326: 3 weeks of bleeding is awful, even if it only happens once a year. I'm def still taking my prenatals (with iron) but I've thought about taking an additional iron supplement since I'm usually borderline low anyways.

I have very irregular cycles, like maybe one a year since having my older son. Before that I only had a period when it was induced or I was on birth control. Because they are so infrequent, they end up being extremely heavy, huge clots, bleeding for 3+ weeks. The first time it happened I freaked out. Went to my OB and he said because I hadn't had one for awhile my lining built up and this was the aftermath. The only thing I have to be careful about is losing too much iron. So I eat extra red meat and take supplements when it happens.

this was totally my experience for my first pp period at 11 months...and for the subsequent two. completely the same as @bluewolverine, everything at once and then it goes back to normal or even lighter than normal. i had heard this was common for the first period, but feeling bummed that it's continued for three cycles now. it honestly impacts my ability to work on the heaviest day or two.

@mrskansas: I don't think so. We avoided around any fertile window. The thought crossed my mind tho! I have some wondfos, maybe I should dig one out. I do enjoy peeing on sticks, so...

@BlueWolverine: I'm hoping it's just my first one that's going to be this bad! Like...9 months of pregnancy + 10 months of breastfeeding and no AF = one awful period. (I know that's not how it works, for the record. But it swear it's like 19 months of gunk trying to exit my body 🙄)

@bees_knees: It is over quickly. There's generally no lead up light bleeding. I think the first one after DD2 was long like you're describing, but since then, it's been about 4-5 days - one of sheer hell (I feel you on having to throw underwear away), one of misery, two to three of normal.

@BlueWolverine: After two babies, there's honestly nothing TMI to me. Ha. Is it over relatively quickly though? I had what I would consider "normal period" for like 3 days, then my heavy bleeding incident, then light bleeding for 4 days. I'm just ready to be done with it already!

@Coral: the bleeding is suuuuper light now. But yeah, it was scary for a min! And really weird. Luckily I was wearing black leggings so it wasn't obvious that I was bleeding out in the middle of the store. Haha. Not funny. But if you can't laugh...

@mrskansas: no BC. If the bleeding doesn't stop soon I'll call my OB. It's been really light for the past couple days though, so I'm not too worried.

Total TMI post. Since having both my babes, my periods have been ridiculous. I've finally figured out the pattern - it appears that my uterus is trying to push everything out in one freakin' day. I'm talking super-plus tampax every two hours and gross clots. Must use tampon and pad at night and often wake to change both. The next day is what I used to think of as a heavy period, but is more manageable than day one. The last two days are normal.

I'm ten month PP after my second baby and am in the midst of my first PP period. It started out normal, and then just as I thought I was on the tail end, I basically started hemorrhaging. In public. It was bad. I'm talking "had to throw my underwear away and change my pants" and "lots of clots" bad. I'm now on Day 8 of (albeit, light) bleeding! Tell me I'm not dying?!

My periods after DS1 were normal. Apparently this time, not so much 😳
