@weagle and @maisymay - when you leave at night, how does LO react once you get to your destination and you have to wake them up? Do they fall back asleep again?

Unfortunately I think we'll probably leave during the day. I'm expecting to make at least 2 stops for her to get out, and to eat dinner. If our late afternoon outing today was any thing like next week, I don't think she'll be napping in the car. I have yet to see her fall asleep in the car since we switched to the convertible seat :-(

I swear by traveling at night for long trips, and driving the bulk of the time during nap time for shorter ones. When we drive to see family (12 hrs) we drive through the night. For 5 hours I would leave at nap time, since her naps are typically 2-3 hours long.

We're about to do a road trip from Connecticut to Michigan (all thanks to my husband, who does not want to leave our dog at home) and believe me, I have the same worries, especially since LO acts like such a grouch in her car seat.

Our plan is to build in lots of times to stop and give her an opportunity to run around. It will slow things down, for sure, but I think it's going to be necessary. Another thing we are doing is loading up our Kindle with short little videos, in case of emergency. We usually don't let her watch TV/play with our phones, etc., but we think this situation probably means we'll need to relax our typical rules a bit.

Can you leave at night? We're doing a 7 hour driver with our 6 month old (will be 7 months at the time) in the first part of August. Our plan is to do her night routine, put her in a really long sleep sack, and put her to sleep in her carseat, and then hit the road.

Next Friday we are headed out on a 5 hour road trip for the weekend. It will be the longest that DD will be in the car and her first hotel stay. Any advice for the car ride and weekend in general? She sleeps really well in a p&p when she stays at my parents house so I'm not too worried about that. But the car ride has me a little worried!
