We did 3 medicated IUIs and attempted 2 more that were cancelled halfway. I tried some cycles with clomid and some with follistim, all with trigger shots, the final one with Gonal-F as well. I feel like I tried everything to get them to work: Coq-10, not working out, going home after the IUI, going back to work after the IUI, eating pineapple, drinking pomegranate juice, lying down for 10 minutes afterward ... I even tried eating McD's fries after it even though that's technically for IVF. :silly:

I guess for me, the best thing would've been to take care of myself emotionally. I was so stressed making sure I did every last possible thing I could to increase our chances, and in hindsight, not a single one of those things would've made a difference (our issue was discovered later via IVF). To date, the hardest failure we had for me was our second IUI. So my advice would be to step away from all of these things, relax with your partner, and know that if it doesn't work, there are still options. It isn't all dependent on this one single try. :goodluck:

We conceived our second with an iui and it worked the first time. I was lucky. But my doctor suggested doing iui’s back to back. So we did one Saturday and Sunday to increase chances. After Sunday, he also suggested we do BD naturally to increase our chances.

Have/will you have your progesterone level(s) checked/monitored? We conceived my DD in 2015 after three cycles of IUI with clomid and a trigger shot. Just did our first IUI to try to conceive #2 last Tuesday. After each IUI I have used progesterone suppositories twice per day until my pregnancy test, as per my RE’s direction. Could be based on my hormone levels or just a precaution, but may be worth inquiring about.

We did 3 IUI cycles with injectables and a trigger shot after we did 3 cycles of injectables and TI. Unfortunately for us none of them were successful.

My advice is to try to remain calm, take good care of yourself.. this process is physically/mentally and emotionally draining!!! Follow the directions your dr's/nurses give you and good luck! I also did the lay there for 10-15 mins after the IUI, I'm pretty sure it was standard procedure for our RE.

Good luck!! :goodluck:

As stated medicated cycles did not work for us.. however we got KU naturally after we stopped seeing our RE!!

My first IUI resulted in my 14.5 month old daughter. It was my 3rd medicated cycle, first was clomid second and third were femera all with ovidrel as a trigger shot. I tried to be relaxed the day of the procedure, my RE let me remain laying down for 15 min post IUI and then I went home and spent the rest of the day on the couch (this was not required but I needed the break). I did follow through with a few old wives tales, namely wearing socks during the procedure and all times after, and eating pineapple for 5 days. I continued with my fertility meditation mostly to help me keep calm. I did not test before my beta, I didn't want to deal with testing out my trigger and over analyzing everything. My husband was not able to go with me for the actual IUI appt (our clinic was 15 min from home and our clinic's rule was the the sperm sample had to get there within 30 min) so I transported his sample in my bra, that was a bit odd. Good luck @southernbelle: I hope you are one IUI and done
@Kaohinani: Good luck to you as well, hopefully the IUI isn't necessary.

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post and I just joined your community. Thank you for having me. My husband and I are trying to conceive. I did two cycles with medication only and this will be my first cycle with medication, trigger shot and IUI. I have two follicles. We go in on Friday.
I'm just looking for any words of wisdom, tips to increase my chances and additional prayers for it to work. It seems like many of you might have been through the same and understand what this is like. Thank you in advance and nice to meet you.
