Ummm, so just had lunch with a girlfriend and she said she knew I was pregnant before I told her because of my bump....so I guess question answered. (I'm almost 12 weeks now)

definitely depends on height and body frame, and at 9 weeks, bloating could also be contributing tot he size as well as the uterus expanding.
I'm 17 weeks and only have a teeny bump, this is most likely because I'm 5ft 11 with a long torso and was very slim to begin with. Barely anyone seems to have noticed that I'm pregnant.

@ cvbee - Glad to see you here, too! I did a LOT of sucking in in Vegas, LOL : ) I think you are right about the clothing situation - not that I really wore form fitting clothes to work, but because I am a small person, flowy layery stuff just looked not that great on me before. I've switched to that type of stuff though. In Vegas, I did wear a bikini at the spa and definitely had a little pot belly. Oh well!

Aaaand the bump/bloat/whatever persists and is worse! Some of it is definitely bloat though because it gets worse throughout the day. In the morning not as bad, though I do have a little bulge. I wish Hellobee had a picture feature and I'd show ya'll : )

Yeah. I'm not sure what it is either. Bloat or show. I'm showing bloat though for sure. I'm excited to buy maternity pants in the next two weeks. I've been lving in yoga pants and it's adding to my schupply feelings.

I think it also depends how you dress.

I've always been a little self conscious about not having a flat tummy unless I engage my abs (and I'm a skinny gal), so I think my clothes have been fairly forgiving, since I don't wear anything that is at all tight on my belly.

13 weeks now. Sometimes in the morning I have to change my outfit because I feel like it is going to give-away my secret. The bloat comes and goes, and I don't want to have to worry about it all day, so I just wear really interesting layers to hide it.

So glad my early pregnancy didn't come in during bikini season. Actually, the day before my BFP I was in a bikini and I was a bit self conscious about my bloat.

PS. Winniebee I like to see you here. :) You must be in Vegas right now rocking that sparkle dress!!! Go girl!

Responses here are so interesting! I'll be sure to keep this thread updated, but the bloat or bump or whatever persists. Will be 10 weeks this weekend and just cannot suck it in.

I'm going to Vegas next weekend and bought a short sequined dress before I got pregnant. It is going to look absurd, but at least it's stretchy : )

I agree, it depends on the body. I was never thin so even at 13 weeks people could of mistaken my bump for fat. lol

But it's normal. My friend (thin) started showing at around 8 weeks

I think it all depends of your body and how you are built. I've heard of some people not being obviously pregnant until the 3rd trimester (!), while others show very early. I started showing all of a sudden at about 14 1/2 weeks. I'm normal build, and I have some "cushion" on my belly area. You sound pretty tiny, so it's probably pretty normal for your build.

My friend had this happen too. She's a petite girl who always had a narrow waist and flat stomach. When she got pregnant, you could TOTALLY tell by 2 months. She was going around in really baggy sweatshirts trying to cover it up, but that was pretty hard since it was summertime!! I couldn't believe how big she was at 5 months. Must be if you have less (for lack of a better word) "girth" to begin with, you show a lil sooner?

I started showing around 10 weeks and it kinda bummed me out too but I got over it quick. Everyone's different and it was actually kinda exciting to see the bulge.

BTW, I held out against buying maternity clothes for a long while and when I finally did, I wish I had bought them earlier. They're sooo much more comfortable than using a bella band.

I'm in the same boat ladies. I'm 10 weeks and I have a bloat belly. I just bought a beband from Target on Friday. I am so much more comfortable in my jeans now. At work no one knows, so I'm sucking it in for now.

@ Jhops - started right around 7 weeks where you are! While a few close friends and family members know, people at work definitely don't know and I'd like them not to know for at least 3 more weeks. I feel like it's getting harder and harder to hide!

I still fit into some pants w/ use of the bella band, but my normal jeans are out. I bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans (old navy jeggings and a nice pair of citizens).

Some women talk about bloat and then say it subsides towards the end of the first trimester, but then you get the actual bump. I just can't decide what this is! I would have a little bloat on day 1 of my period each month but it is nothing at all like this.

@winniebee - I'm in my 7th week and I'm walking around the house today trying to suck in my stomach. It's not happening and my husband is getting the biggest kick out of it. In my case, I am a skinny-ish girl who has always had a pooch. Well, I think my pooch is being pushed out. I just told my husband tonight I'm worried about what I'll look like when I'm at your stage - 9 weeks. I'm guessing you're like us and hoping to keep it under wraps until 12 weeks or later?

Oh and I haven't bought any pants yet. I've been a size 8 since the wedding but have some size 10 pants from before then that I can still wear. I can't wear my 8's anymore w/o a bella band. I don't think I've gained any weight yet. I'll find that out at the ob visit on Weds.

@ Tequiero - thanks for this info! I guess there wasn't too much place for any bloat or bump to go. It just seems absurd that I actually look pregnant.

I'm curious about others' thoughts too!

i'm almost 16 weeks and it was just this past week where i felt like i was really showing. i think it's because you are petite. my petite friend really really really started showing early. by 3 months, she looked like 6 months, and by 8 months, she looked like 3 months past due date! (she was a first time mom)

I'm 9 weeks and look noticeably "pregnant." I'm a small person (5'2, 110 lbs) and normally have a flat stomach. The past few weeks, I have what looks like a bump of at least 4 months! I know that bloat is really common this early, so was convinced this was bloat and would go away. But my husband (and a few close friends consulted) agree that I actually look pregnant. I can suck it in a little, but not much. Even if I do suck in, there's still a bulge. I don't fit into any of my pants, either. Bellaband or maternity jeans. I haven't gained that much (2 lbs).

I feel like this is impossible! Has anyone else shown early? Or, do we think this is just INSANE bloat.
