We've let anyone put her down, and she's never had an issue. My mom and MIL took turns staying with me after LO was born and they would let me nap and would put her down for me. She had her first overnight with MIL at 10 weeks so DH and I could get a good night sleep.

P was like 10 months old the first time someone put her to sleep and was taking HOURS to be nursed to sleep at home. She had no problem going to bed and staying asleep.

She notoriously takes longer for me to put her to sleep than anyone else.

The Montessori teacher when he was 3 months old? They let the child "put themselves to sleep" so not sure if that counts or not.

My dad tried putting DS down when he was about 4.5 months old so that the hubby and I could catch a movie. He was unsuccessful and held DS till he fell asleep.

Both grandmoms have put her down a few times, as early as 13 weeks I think. She usually will go down relatively easily for them - she sometimes would wake earlier than normal for a night feeding.

My mom has taken him overnight several times since he was a month old. She's the only one who's done it other than us, but he's never given her any trouble.

The first time someone else put LO down was my MIL when K was 3 months old. I was so worried because she wasn't a good sleeper at that point, but MIL got her down without a problem! Actually, she slept better that night than she had in a few days with me and DH. Some sort of grandma magic I guess ;) It was in our home though, so I'm sure it helped that LO was in her own bed.

The first couple of weeks (4months old) back to work I had rotating babysitters, my friend figured it out and passed it along to the other ones. He won't go down with me the way he goes down with them so weird. He had his routine with them and a routine with me. He's funny

Someone else has put her to bed twice. First time, it was one of her daycare teachers and there were no problems. Second time it was my sister and LO freaked out big time. We almost had to come home from our date. We haven't tried again since then lol.

We had a sitter that came once a week from the time my son was 4 months old. She gave him breakfast then put him down for the morning nap. I don't know what she did, but he was sleeping when I got home most days, so, I let them work it out.

Yeah I think the combo of new environment and new person putting her down was probably too much. First time someone else put my LO down she was three months old and she did great! Chugged her bottle and then fell asleep in my friend's arms and then plopped down in her rock n play for the night.

We just let anyone put her down. Sometimes she gives them a hard time, but mostly she goes down super easy. But that's the same at home with us. They all fall asleep eventually! :)

When was the first time someone besides you or SO put the baby down to sleep, either at bedtime or a nap?

I'm a SAHM, and we've never had a babysitter yet, so C has never gone to sleep for anyone besides me or DH. Last week MIL was watching her while I got my haircut, and C was happy, took a bottle no problem, but when she got tired and MIL tried to put her down for a nap (following my exact nap routine, except she did the sleep sack wrong) C freaked out and wouldn't calm down until we got home shortly after. To be fair, it was only our second day there, she wasn't used to MIL, it was a new room for sleeping, so I can't blame her.

But I'm wondering how to get her used to other people putting her down, as eventually, we will want to go out when she will need to go to sleep. I'm thinking we will have BIL come over and put her down for a nap or bed, so she is at home, with someone she knows but isn't me or DH.
