@Navy_Mommy: yep, that's why I did too!... I would overdue it and pay the next day because I was exhausted. I cut my workouts down to 30-45 min of moderate effort, cardio like aerobics or my recumbent bike. I actually stopped running altogether. so i continued by modifying P90x workouts until in 3rd tri., where I completely eliminated them...3rd tri has been walking, core strength and recumbent bike. Figured it would make me more fired up after pregnancy to get back to what I was doing. Good luck !!

@Suzimo: I WANTED to nap, I'm just a nap failure, haha. Unless I'm really sick it's next to impossible for me to sleep when the sun is up.

@jh524: the problem is I felt fine while I was running. It wasn't like I felt like I was pushing it too hard, it wasn't until hours later that I felt like dying. It was super weird.

The first few weeks of pregnancy I was too tired to even think about exercise. I'm in my tenth week now and have started to feel a little more energy and so have started to do some videos at home and go to the gym. I do feel way more tired after a workout. Yesterday I attempted a Zumba class and when I came home took a 3 hour nap afterward.

Just listen to your body. The first tri was hard for me as well because of the muscle fatigue and MS. try to keep a modified routine and it'll be worth it. It will get better just listen to your body.

I didn't bother during my first trimester. I was tired and nauseous. Now I'm in my 2nd trimester and I go to water zumba, it's easier on the body when you're in the water. But I'm still crazy tired at 14 weeks :(

I'm glad to hear that some of you ladies scaled back due to tiredness - I am only 5 weeks but have been hit with the tiredness and the light sleeping and just can't find it in me to exercise some nights. @Navy_Mommy: I think your three times a week sounds like a good idea.

I had to stop working out til I think 13 weeks because of some bleeding, but once I started back up I felt great and was still in the gym 2 days before I went in to the hospital. Most people's energy picks back up in the second tri so if you feel like you need to take the time off, don't think you'll never get back to the gym.

I remember I had to scale down in first tri, then went back to regular around 14 weeks? And didn't slow down till LO was born!

I'm 9 weeks too, and I've definitely had to cut back on my workouts. I used to work out 5 days a week with both cardio and strength training, but I was finding that I was just even more exhausted after doing that once I got pregnant. So, I cut out most of the strength training and have been sticking to just the elliptical. It's made a difference - I'm not nearly as tired afterwards, and I've been able to keep up with it!

Hopefully the exhaustion goes away soon for both of us - I definitely know how awful it can be!

I've been meeting with a trainer 3 days a week since about 5 weeks. Friday I almost past out & had to tell my trainer to cut out the lunges for the day cause they were making me dizzy. Otherwise I've been doing circuit training for arms & legs, doing sit ups, planks, push ups, lunges, squats. The trainer pushes me pretty hard in 30 min but I find that for the most part its easier for me to do that then spend 30 busting ass at cardio. After my session I ride the bike for 20 min at a moderate to easy pace.

I've had a fairly easy pregnancy so far though so I'm not sure if changing up you routine to something simuliar to this would help.

Before pregnancy I kickboxed or walked 3.5-5 miles per day. I had to give up kickboxing before pregnancy as per my RE's request. During my first trimester I was so sick that I gave up walking as well. I started feeling better around week 15 so I've been walking two miles a day since around Christmas. Good luck :-)

@Corduroy: Thanks. I'm still being hit with first trimester exhaustion so I'm just gonna try and work out 3 times a week until I feel better. If I feel like this after working out though I'm gonna have to stick to just walking for a while.

The same thing happened to me when I went back to Crossfit after my first trimester hibernation. I felt fine during the very scaled workout. However the next morning I was really dizzy and ended up going home sick from work.

I chalked it up to overdoing it my first time back and not having the blood volume that I needed at that point. I was about 15 weeks. My doctor was not concerned. It never happened again and I worked out every other day until my due date.

I hope you feel better!

I was working out 6 days a week when I got pregnant... then my first trimester exhaustion kicked in and I haven't been working out. This morning I tried to go for a jog and felt fine during it, but now I feel like craaaaaap. I'm exhausted and dizzy and just feel like crap. I'm drinking plenty of water and I'm supposed to be napping right now but I'm having trouble falling asleep.

How did you keep active without passing out during the first trimester?! It doesn't help that I spend all day chasing a 15 month old.

PS I'm 9 weeks today.
