I had back pain with both pregnancies, but with my second, it was especially bad. I had SI issues beginning at 11 weeks or so. Physical therapy helped me get through the pregnancy, but it was about a year postpartum before it was back to normal. I hope that's not the case for you! I found that a pigeon pose variant was helpful as well as an ice pack and stretching regularly.

@snowjewelz: sorry you had it, but glad it went away! I def need to be better at bending my knees rather than my back!

@peachykeen: ugh sorry it was so terrible for you, but glad it went away!

@MaryM: oof a long commute would be rough with back pain!

I have an awesome ergonomic chair at home so I think I'm just going to work at home as much as I can (my office work chair suuuuucks! Sitting in my good chair today feels really good, I might have to roll it around our apartment and sit in it as much as possible rather than our couch, dining chairs, etc

I have a long commute, and I ended up needing a lumbar pillow in the car last pregnancy. I'd be so uncomfortable by the time I got home (over an hour each way).

I forgot to ask my mom for the pillow back when I saw her this weekend. I think I might need to make myself a new one.

Lower/mid-back pain was the absolute worst symptom during my pregnancy with DD. It was so excruciating I could hardly sit (I brought in a pillow for my office chair but it barely helped). It lasted from about 10 weeks to around 26 weeks, when it magically went away.

Luckily, it made the pain of contractions during delivery seem way less than they probably would have otherwise! Hope yours goes away faster.

I had it with DD1 and it went away eventually. Surprisingly not so bad w/ DD2 even though I am using my back a lot more carrying DD1 and all! Hope it goes away for you! Try not to have to bend your back too much!

Has anyone dealt with lower back pain early in pregnancy? Did it go away? Did it get worse? Did you have any strategies to help alleviate the pain?

I'm 10 weeks and yesterday my lower back really started hurting. I was bending down cleaning up lo's toys when all the sudden it felt like I pulled it, and then it's been more or less painful ever since. I spent awhile googling it and saw that it could be hormonal, it could be based on my posture, or I could be not using my knees enough when I lift my toddler, but regardless, owwww!
