Yep. I had the combined screen (1st tri bloodwork and NT scan, and 2nd tri bloodwork), and an amnio.

Yep. I think I had this done. It's all really fuzzy, but he drew blood for something!

We did the nuchal translucency test which is a combo of blood work and ultrasound. I only agreed to it because it was non-invasive

I LOVED ours! (Of course hearing the baby looks wonderful and healthy was a huge part of this...) The tech that did the ultrasound was wonderfully thorough and she was able to get a peek at everything - including counting fingers and toes. I felt so reassured about everything after our test.

It was optional, but we did all genetic testing that was non evasive and covered by insurance. It the first trimester, we did the NT scan and related blood test. The scan itself was an ultrasound and they told us immediately if the part they were measuring was inside the "normal" range or not. Then the blood test results followed a few weeks after, and the official chance of Downs Syndrome ratio.

hey there -- we did this. It's offered to all, no additional cost, and we wanted to be sure we knew ahead of time if something was wrong so we would be ready when the baby arrived.

Luckily, all of our tests came back great -- we had one appointment, we did an ultrasound and got to watch the baby for about 15-20 minutes while they took measurements of the fluid behind the baby's neck, looked for a nose bone, and measured a few other things - it was SO great to see the baby for such a long time.

Then after that I had about 7 vials of blood drawn to do all of the bloodwork that coincides with the early risk testing, and we got our results about a week after the test.

For us, it's optional. Our insurance/hospital gives us the choice of skipping it, doing a modified testing, or going the whole 9 yards. We already know that we'll do the modified testing so that we feel more prepared if something bad does show up, but we wouldn't end the pregnancy regardless of the results. Also, as a high risk, we receive several ultrasounds and so hope that the doc would notice if there was a large physical concern.

It's standard at my doctor's office. We got some pretty good images of the baby at the ultrasound. The finger prick part wasn't a big deal, although it hurt more (in my opinion) than a regular blood test and it took a while for my finger to stop bleeding.

I did it but didnt know it was optional. I would have done it anyway though. It consisted of an in depth ultrasound where the technician looks for all the body parts and measures the space filled with fluid in the back of the neck. and then they prick your finger and dab it on a piece of paper. I really enjoyed the ultrasound part bc we got to see the baby jumping around! It was the first time it felt "real"!

my doctor recommends this screening, but it's not required. it's to check for down's syndrome. it was just an ultrasound(our first, which was the main reason we had it) and a finger prick blood test.

I'm kind of confused about this one, because I went in for a checkup at just past 10 weeks and Dr. drew blood for the first blood screen, told me that we'd take the second blood test at my next check up at 14 weeks, but we didn't do a NT scan.

But here's another thread about it:

It's optional at my doctor's office. We elected to do it, mainly as another opportunity to see the baby! But we don't do it until 12 weeks so my appointment is still a couple weeks away.

Here in Quebec, we don't have many ultrasounds. We have one at 20 weeks and if we want, we can decide to do the 12 week one (which is the one you are mentioning)

I did it for both pregnancies... but I know it's not the norm in the states.
