@RMS2012: We did. In our case, the calculus would have been very different if the baby had trisomy 18 (a uniformly near-fatal anomoly)... so we waited. We were kind of in shock anyway, so it was nice to be able to get used to the idea with just us knowing about it.

thanks both! I know the risk is relatively low but i still worry.
Not sure if anyone else is like this, but as soon as someone (the doc) says "I don't want you to worry.. but..." i automatically worry!

Did you both hold off telling ppl (about the pregnancy) until you had further results?

my results came in at a higher risk too, I am sorry I can not remember the exact numbers. I worried for about 2 weeks while we waited for the scan with a fetal specialist. They were confident that LO was fine, I was offered an amnio, but opted not to go that route, I had monthly scans as follow up - she turned out perfect. Good luck to you!

Mine were a risk of 1/24. This means that we had a 96% chance of having a normal baby and a 4% risk of a baby with trisomy.

Since we popped out of the algorithm with an abnormal result and I was 38, we opted for CVS which showed that our little Lemon was just fine chromosomally.

In your case, there is a 99.7% chance that the baby is normal. Definitely don't freak out, but if that level of risk is unacceptable to you and your partner, you may want to consider CVS or amnio :) Hope this helps!

hey all!

Posted this on WB as well but thought i would get your opinion as well..

So just had the results back from my first trimester screening and not sure what to think of them..

Went for the ultrasound where they measured the skin behind the neck and everything looked fine, however my blood results have increased my risk. So basically before the tests and solely based on my age my risk for a baby with Down's syndrome was 1/580. After the tests my re-assessed risk is now 1/280. The doc told me not to freak out, as this is not considered abnormal. she said the blood tests could of been thrown off that day by something. So she's recommended me to come in next week (when i am 15 weeks) to get another blood test. I know things will work out fine (fingers crossed) but it's still worrying! The doc also said the measurement of the babies neck is actually more of a sign than anything else and the baby looked perfect on the ultrasound. sp i suppose thats good?

We were waiting for these results to be able to start spreading the word (only immediate family knows right now), our mums are itching to tell people. but now i think we will wait another 2 weeks to get more results back.. :(

Anyone else had worrying results?
