Dd was 3 months when I went on a long weekend with my parents. Since then she sleeps over regularly at my parents for an overnight, they love having her. At 7 months Dh and I went away for a week to Fl, that's the longest we've been away. I actually found it easier to leave her when she was younger than it is now at 2yo!

We haven't been away yet. DD1 is 2.5 and DD2 is eight months. Now that #3 is coming soon I think it'll be a long time before we get away.

If you can, do it!

We will leave LO overnight for a wedding when she is almost 8 months. I'd be okay with sooner but don't have a reason before then. Likely will go on an anniversary trip for a few days around 10 months.

I'm not ready to leave LOs for the night until they are done nursing. For us, that was 19 months for #1 and almost 17 months for #2.

We went on our first kid free trip when they were 19 months and 3 years. It was a babymoon for our third baby, and we were gone for 5 nights.

We took a 3 night vacation when LO 1 was 15 months and a 6 night trip when she was 23 months. I personally did some overnights without her once every other night through her first year for business travel. I think I would still wait at least 15 mos with LO 2 for being away multiple nights if I can, mostly because I EBF for first year and pumping while away from baby just stinks!

We didn't leave LO1 until 16 months and it was just one overnight and he stayed with my MIL. The first time we left LO2 she was about 18 months and she and LO1 spent 2 nights with my MIL. We don't live close to family though, and so far, we've only been able to go away when we are visiting my ILs.

We left DH with my parents for 6 days when LO was 8 months old. He did SO well. I say, if you're really comfortable and trust those who you will leave LO with, then do it! one thing we did was leave LO with my parents once or twice prior to the trip, just to see how he'd do, and it went fine. So we were more comfortable leaving him for the longer stretch. It also helped that we were able to Face Time with them every night, but those were mostly for us because at that age, he didn't really know we were gone!

DD is a little over 3 months old and I just left her for Labor Day weekend for a bachelorette party. Then I turned around and immediately flew to Vegas with DH without her for the Mon-Fri. She was with DH for the weekend and with my mom while we went to Vegas.

Gosh. This is so tough. LO is only 7 months, and I have left her once for 4 days. I flew across the country and she was in great hands with DH. I would have issues leaving her with someone else at that age.

Once she is reliably STTN, I'd like to leave her with my parents and go to a B&B with DH for a night. Baby steps!

Good luck and enjoy, whatever you decide! It's harder for us mamas than for the babes!

I think maybe 4 days 3 nights in October (lo#2 will be 6ish months) will be my plan! It's great having great care options...

Now I just have to figure out where to go?!

Then maybe after lo2 is a year I'll plan a week away...something more extravagant! I'll have to get my mom a nice thank you gift for that one...even though I always break it up with her daycare teacher!

We just booked our first trip away from our LOs last night! We're going away for four days and my mom will be staying here with the girls. DD1 is 3 and DD2 is 19 months - it will be my first time away from either of them for more than a few hours. I'm really nervous about it but I know it's good for all of us!

OH go for it, we left DD1 overnight for the first time at 8 weeks, and DD2 at 5 months (for a weekend.) We plan on going on a 5 year anniversary trip in May where DD2 will just be over a year, neither of my girls have ever had an issue staying the night somewhere else, they love grandma's house.

LO2 is only 3 months but I'm planning a five day trip for once we've weaned (about a year from now). I could leave him earlier than that (and will for work definitely) but I'd rather not pump on vacation. We might do an overnight in a few weeks while visiting in laws if LO is sleeping well and the in-laws are up for it.

If I could count on T sleeping better (BFing aside), I would leave his adorable little hiney for a week long vacation right now :) I might just be desperate for a trip with DH, though

We just celebrated our 5 year anniversary when #2 was 11 months. We don't have great care options so we only took a overnight "trip". It was our first time away from either kids in the last 3.5 years. Not because I wasn't ready but simply because no one nearby we feel we can ask so much of. If my mom was nearby I would've totally feel comfortable leaving them for an extended weekend trip. But no more because 2 especially with one being an infant is a lot of work.

And yeah, the whole sleep thing. She still doesn't STTN.

So - I am due with LO#2 in March. Next year will be DH and mines 5 year anniversary. We took a wonderful honeymoon but truthfully have only had 1 or 2 solo vacations since and they have all been surrounding friends weddings.

I'm wondering - when were you comfortable leaving LO for an extended period of time? And how long were you gone for?

We have good care options (DD1 and LO#2 will both be in DC during the day) in my Mom and a woman we have used for overnight vacations in the past (a teacher at daycare). So I am always super comfortable being away.

With DD#1 - we left her for a whole night at 8mos; I traveled for a week for work at 8mos; and we left her for 4 nights at 1 yr. Will I feel ready sooner with this LO#2?

LO#2 is due in March, and our Anniversary is in Oct - so I am torn between planning something for Oct (likely just 3 nights away at that point) or maybe holding off and doing something bigger when LO#2 is at least 1 and doing a week vacation away.

Thoughts? Experience?
