My guess would be a possible vanishing twin as well. I hope your next ultrasound goes great!

I'm sorry that is stressful! Hopefully the two weeks go fast!
Was the "extra circle" the yolk sack (see below)? Did you ask the doctor??

My guess would be a (soon to be) vanishing twin. I have no medical training, but it sounds like it to me? Fingers crossed for good news next time, and I'm sorry you're dealing with this stress! Congrats at least!

Hi all, I just went in for my first ultrasound for my first baby-to-be! Very excited . However, we had a less than exciting ultrasound experience.

I saw a beating heartbeat which was very exciting. However, the baby was around the size of a 6 week old fetus, however it should have been at 7 wk 6 days according to my calculations. Almost two weeks off, which was concerning. The other strange thing was an extra circle showed up on the ultrasound, which was around the same size of the yolk sac of the embryo , except a little thinner. There was no clarification given from my dr, just that i have to come back in 2 weeks for a follow up to make sure the baby is growing as it should. I am so confused, and these two weeks are driving me insane. I've tried googling everything possible except I don't even know WHAT that circle was. (I am ultra nervous because I had a previous miscarriage and am scared this will end similarly)

I am curious if anyone else has experienced something similar, and if so, what was the outcome?

Any advice, experiences, or resources would be so helpful to calm my nerves. thanks so much:-)
